Tathra photos and reporting in
#1
Here a few photos from the weekend. I don't have any from the first day, I had a *cough* technamological moment with the camera.

Most of us (including little Joshy, the kid from the caravan park), getting ready to get out for the loop.

All of us down at the boat ramp. It was a LOT like hearding cats trying to get that photo.

Brooksy chasing a gold Gen2. I have to imagine it is Syd09, hands up who recognises themself?

I'm posting a few images at a time, my internet jumps in and out.

Looks like you had a great turnout and a terrific weekend, and great weather to boot. Im so sorry I didnt make it, last minute things do come up. But sounds like a great location for future venues. Well done Heidi and Max and the Canberra group. I have a feeling that many other will attend Tathra over the coming years. You blazed the way.

It certainly does look like a great destination.

+1 Volvi to the organising team.

It seems to be somthing about busa club trips away that they are always a treat for those who can go and a regret for those who can't.

I've got heaps of photos, you haven't seen Les lifting Max's bike SINGLE HANDEDLY or the presentation ceremony. I'm hoping someone else took some photos as well, specially the meet at Cooma (cause I didn't get any).

I'm not going to bother with a ride report, if you weren't there you should go outside and kick yourself HARD. I'll give my top moments though, some things that made me LAUGH.

Raeleen, the manager at the caravan park took me aside this morning as we were heading out and said she'd had comments from many of the other guests in the park. Turns out that many big, shiny bikes attract some attention, and apparently we have given bikies a 'good name' with out behaviour. I said, 'we're not BIKIES, we're BIKERS', but it seems the subtly is lost on the general public. The Rebels will be so pleased.

Guy (pronouced Gee), the French chef at the bowling club gave us the most incredible dinner on the Friday night. He was so thrilled with our response to his menu, that when I booked again for the next night, he spent 15mins explaining how he was going to make something 'special' just for me. For 15mins I tried to decipher his heavily accented English, but I still wasn't sure if I was getting a special STEAK or CAKE. He also kept pointing at what turns out is his brother, and saying, 'don't bother with him, he speaks no English'. That took a bit of working out too, it was the arm gestures and facial expressions that gave it away.

When we walked into the bowling club the first night, the entire club stopped what they were doing and turned to stare open-mouthed at us. TonyD was grabbbed by an elderly, impeccably dressed, hopelessly pissed elderly lady who asked where he was from. He said Sydney, and she said 'I knew you weren't from around here, we don't get YOUR sort of people here very often'. He said, 'what, bikers?', and she said, 'no, sophisticated'.

I accidentally gave two VERY YOUNG local boys the fright/night of their lives. I caught them heroically pissed hanging in the driver's window of the courtesy van that was to take us back to the caravan park from the pub. 'WHAT ARE YOU TWO LITTLE BUGGERS DOING?' I barked at them. They were so f****d up that they weren't sure, but they thought there was a chance they had taken the hand-brake off the bus, leaving it to go careering backwards down the steep hill, across the pier and into the ocean. I went to get the driver to take us home and they staggered over to Simmo and said they thought i was scary and what should they do? Simmmo suggested they hide before I got back. I got back, and one of them attempted to throw his arm around my neck (a pet hate) and called me love. I'm sure it wont hurt when they take the wire out of his jaw.

Max has already told you about his frame sheering, while the rest of us were walking around in circles trying to get phone reception and trying to work out where we could get a trailer, Josh got down on the ground with whatever tools we could scramble from underseat kits, and did the most remarkable job. Simmo and Steventh went back and scoured 10kms of road until they found the bolt that had sheered off. I followed Max down the Imlay Road at 110kms/hr while he worked out if he was going to suddenly end up sitting on his back tyre, until he realised Josh had worked his magic and the bike was FINE for the rest of the weekend. Got to love mechanically minded young men!

Busanova and his local knowledge. He's come up and say, I've got an idea. By the end of the weekend we were just following him, he didn't lead us wrong once. He took us to places we never would have found on our own, including his very quiet cul-de-sac. I'm not sure the neighbour with the leaf blower was SO excited to see us, but he didn't dash back inside and once he calmed down, he was willing to take a few photos. Flashing past a photographer, Bazzman couldn't help himself. He dragged the bus up into a pretty impressive wheelie. He went up straight and true, but as he was coming down, he got a little squirmy. Ward was behind him, then me. When I saw Ward's brakelight come on, I knew it was time to slow down JUST IN CASE.

On the loop, we got the best organically organised corner marking I have ever seen. It happened spontaneously and made me proud to ride with the group. I've been out with groups where it is every man (or woman) for himself, this wasn't it. There was a real sense of mateship and caring the whole weekend. Nothing was too much trouble, nothing was so funny we couldn't laugh until our guts hurt, there were no heros or wankers and we all got on. The road was perfect, the weather couldn't have been better.

It was magic catching up with old mates, and a pleasure to meet new ones. I can't wait to see you all again.

Thanks for having so much fun.

I WANT MORE PHOTOS! I'm FAIRLY sure I wasn't the only one with a camera was I???

You don't need a busa Crane, there was a few other bikes there. Ok, we didn't let them in the photos and we made them sit at a different table for dinner...... but we made them welcome.

Nah, you're always welcome.

Photo's look great and I know how good some of the roads are down that way. Sorry I couldn't make it. Thought I had it sorted but my wife had to work some wierd shifts and I had to mind the little fella. I'm really glad everyone made it home unscathed. Sorry to have missed such a great weekend.
Cheers AllPi_thumbsup
