crankshaft ballencing

Hi

looking at the APE 1397 kit, Ive been looking around on the net where its hard to sort fact from fiction so im sure someone on here can enlighten me

If i were to replace my pistons with the new ones do I need to have the crank re-ballenced

"They" reckon it will alow the engine to rev faster if you remove the weights and have it ballenced, i thought you needed the weight to off set the conrods and pistons

And even if it does allow it rev quicker would it evan be noticible ?

Not like a v8 that needs the crank balanced to suit different piston weights,
the pistons and rods each need to be similar and the crank is balanced as its own rotating mass, there pretty good std but you could balance the crank , esp if you intend removing the counterbalancer and machining its drive gear off the crank,
the weights will not be removed if the crank is lightened but may be reduced and shaped for less resistance

you should notice a lightened crank and may notice a correctly balanced setup, depending how far out it is std
