Heidi,
The ride spoken about from Eden to Bombala is a good one but there are better ones especially for changes in scenery - from open road to twisty bits - some great loops so that you don't travel the same way twice.
Really looking forward to greeting you lot. I want to arrange a photographer for digital records (no expense to the club) if that's okay with the organisers. If there is a lunch or dinner to be organised may I suggest the bowlo rather than the pub for food. The latter is plain awful. Any way I can assist only too ready to help.
Cheers,
Gerry
You have the local knowledge, I'm sure we will listen to you re the roads. We want around a 500kms loop and something around the 250 mark for those who want a quiet day.
You think the bowlo is the go? We've already spoken to the pub and they have a band on that night, and they can seat up to 150 people for us. Any idea how many the bowlo can seat for dinner? We are staying at the two caravan parks down on the beach, and the pub will shuttle bus us up and back. Where is the bowlo? Is it closer than the pub? Also, keep in mind 70 - 100 busa riders take up a lot of room and get a bit noisy, the pub can cope, could the bowlo?
Thanks heaps
Heidi

Okay,
The bowlo is opposite the beach closer than the pub and runs a shuttle bus service; but the pub is the better venue with the band that night. The drawback is the meal. If it were me I'd have a meal at the bowlo and then head on up to the pub. I can organise the meal if required through Guy pronounced GEE at the bowlo- good food and price is okay. Re. the rides: one comes to mind is Tathra to Bermagui then Cobargo back along the highway to Bemboka turn off (pub there & pie shop) up the Brown Mountain (good fun on the twisties) across to Bombala (fuel, rest stop) then back to Wyndham (Robbie Burns pub) and then either to Pambula - Merimbula - Sapphire Coast Drive - Tathra. This ride is about 400k's but could be extended by going from Bombala to Eden via the chip mill road. This is a lot longer but okay for those who like a day in the saddle.
This route can be altered and shortened to suit and is all tar and little traffic roads except from the highway between Cobargo to Bemboka turn off where there are two speed cameras on the highway between Cobargo and Bega.
Food for thought?
Cheers
Gerry
Right oh, good thinking. I'll talk to the team and we'll get on the phone to the bowlo and the pub and see what they can do for us.
Cheers mate.

hey Heidi,
Drive a hard bargain when your on the phone to them, m8. Don't forget, with 70-100 ppl (eating[$$] & drinking heapsa grog[$$$$])......THEIR BALLS are in OUR COURT (metaphorically, anyhoo) !!
Drinks (i do double southerns/bourbons & drambuie nips ![Beer Beer](https://www.australian-hayabusa-club.com/MyBB/images/smilies/beer.gif) ) would HAVE TO be cheaper at the bowlo.....wouldn't they, Gerry?!?
That would be the plan Baz. I worry about the bowlo though, I've just spent some time at the Forster Bowling Club (my grandma is a member) and I suspect David (on the desk) would frown at 70 - 100 drunk hayabusa owners. Specially when Simmo decided it was time to do a lap of the greens, drink in hand, hunting lesbians. It has the potential to go bad fast. The pub would have seen it all before.
I'll ring both and see what kind of deal we can get.

IFirstly the bowlo on Saturday is dead from 6.30 onwards so you would have the run of the club ( I'm an ex president /young one at that). I spoke to Gee the chef and he can cater for as many as turn up with a four mains with entrees if desired. He asked are they all men I didn't know how to reply but think it it is to do with entrees I hope!
The road map is good but can be shortened by coming down Myrtle Mountain from Wyndham to Candelo ( a short cut but bloody great - I did it five days a week for 5 llong years).
Any late accommodation can be catered for - only need to contact me for best options.
Cheers,
Gerry

Les's loop looks pretty good, hiow about the two of you get your heads together and get this sorted.
We ate at the pub last time we were there and the grub was pretty good as was the service. What makes you think the Bowlo is better? If there are good reasons it's better we should look, mind you Heidi has already made contact with the Pub.
Time is getting short to change horses guys. We need to button this up and finalised.
Les. Can you make it to Canberra Riders Monday arvo so the three of us can throw these thoughts around?
Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!

Les. Can you make it to Canberra Riders Monday arvo so the three of us can throw these thoughts around? The pub is doing it tough I can tell you when it comes to the food stakes. Matty and Paddy run the pub and their both great guys and I'm sure will go out of their way to provide good service. Being a local I can only express my opinion that I want you to remember Tathra in the best light not spoilt by a mean meal. I can go talk to the guys at the pub to seek "quality assurance" if you like. On another plane I've lined up a couple to take video footage and stills which will be posted on the internet and thought a mass photo at Kianiny boat ramp would be fantastic - plenty of room, great spot for photos and best spot in Tathra for photos other than the wharf which wouldn't be suitable. Would late Saturday afternoon be suitable or Sunday mid morning - don't want to get in the way of the fisho's. By the way there is a fishing clubhouse there and barbecue facilities. Would you be interested in Sunday morning bbq breakfast/brunch before leaving?
Tell me to leave the organisers to organise but I'm only trying to make this visit memorable.

I don't have to work anymore so I can do any ground work or on the spot arrangements as you like.
Cheers.

A new chef at Tathra Pub!
I had a chat with Matty at the pub re busa 10th ann. visit. My concern was the tucker I last had on AFL grand final day and hoped there had been an improvement. A new chef and satisfied customers. This makes me feel a lot easier and happier for all you visitors that weekend.
Cheers, Gerry
Excellent. At this stage we are taking your advice and suggesting the bowlo for Friday night dinner and the pub for Sat night. I haven't spoken to the bowlo yet, so let me do that before you chat to them.
Thanks heaps for your advice.

Interesting situation - the bowlo has raffles on the Friday - shouldn't be a problem. Ask to Speak to GEE (soft g as in grub) in the restaurant 10 - 2 or 6 - 9 phone 64941280. He mentioned he can make up special menus eg choice of four main serves plus entrees if desired (i spoke to him earlier this week). He's french so a little hard to understand. The pub has a wedding reception on the Saturday night with a band for the reception. Matty at the pub reckons no problem accommodating both. Got a whisper you or some others are coming down this weekend, if you are let me know , I'd enjoy having a chat and showing off the local attractions.
Cheers,
Gerry
