which is the better 190 or 180 on the back. Do a lot of shit roads in the hills .

I use a 180 as it tips in better when you're doing the corning thing, at the moment using a 190 as my local didn't have a Storm in a 180 when I needed a replacement.

180 for tip in
190 and there's not really that much difference.

As Max said there isn't a real lot of difference! Where you'll notice something is by using a higher profile. I use a 190/55! Absolutly brilliant for moving the BUS from side to side!

or you can use adjustable links which give you more accurate movement for your body type, style of riding etc etc

The 180 is defintely lighter and easier to corner,but not that stable compare to 190/50 at high speed.The best combination would be 190/55

Question....... Currently running the standard 19/50 but every tyre that I look at as a suitable replacment seems to be a 190/55. I also have the std gearing, and thinking of going +2 on the rear sprocket, so if I went with the 55 profile would you suggest I consider a 43 tooth rear, and leave the front sprocket be.

What tyre is generally recommended ? I dont care how long it lasts, as long as it is sticky. I do not commute on the bike, and only go and "play". I am yet to do a track day, but looking forwards to my first. If I ask at any "stealerships' they always just try to sell me what they have, and tell me that its the best you can get. Should I go for a Michilin Pilot Race (Have Pilot power at the moment and not convinced that its the best), Corsa III, Bridgestone BT "buggeredifiknow", or has anybody tried the new Pirelli Angel ???

Any help would be great, cause by the time I work it out I will be running on canvass specials.

Mate its a pesonal choice and you will get a million differnt "correct" answers and "I know best" answers, so good luck cos in the you will still have to make your own mind up cos you are the one riding :)

I dont even get into these discussions anymore cos I get too wound up - pretty sure if you use the search function this topic has been discussed a ton of times ...damn cant believe I even wrote this much adios

Natcam, If you are happy to get low mileage out of soft tyres for the sake of grip, I suggest you go for the sticky variety of any brand. The Continetal s fitted to the new Triumphs and BMWs seem to get the nod from those guys. But the soft Bridgys - BT016, Avons and Pilot Powers are good too.
If you can find the right size, ANY of the new softys should be fine for ya!

a 55 profile rear is equivalent to 1.2 less teeth on the back.for the road choose a sports road tyre not a road legal track tyre.The difference will be in the amount of heat cycles the rubber can handle before it starts to lose cold grip.prelli and michelin ive found to generally have the best cold grip,havent tried avons or continentals though.bridgestone 016,s suck at cold wet grip.
