Dave from Farriders down
#1
Hey all

I've never met the guy in person, but we've chatted online a bit. He was very helpful when I originally thought I was doing the loop on my own, and supportive of the trip we ended up doing. Nice bloke.

This morning (AUS time), the last day of the Iron Butt Rally he hit a deer and has serious head injuries. Poor bugger.

If you want to follow it, go to the far riders site, they are keeping on top of it.

Dammit. Dave passed on a little while ago. He was doing what he loved.

Seems he had a coming together with a deer, apparently no helmet which sort of knowing the bloke doesn't sound like him at all. He was a staunch advocate of bike safety in all its aspects. However the police report said no helemt according to details on FJR forum.

Sincerest condolances to his family. Very Very sad

Shit, I must have skipped over this topic a couple of times before I realised what it was about.

R.I.P. Dave - a real biker legend in this country and will be missed by many.

Most of you will not be aware that Dave was also a member of our club for a year or so.
He did his trips on a busa for a year or two and came here for tech background.

Very sorry to hear about this and I too will be very surprised if the report says he was not wearing a helmet. That would be extremely odd for Dave.
"If time catches up with you. You're going too slow!"

Just what was on the FJR forum apparently in the police report and confirmed by hospital staff.

If true as you say extremely out of character.
