Be careful of the old walbro copies. We had always used bosch 040's for all our cars ( fyi, my and my mate have had several track only cars, plus both have/had highly modified street cars ) . Although we had a pump die on the dyno so we replaced it with a walbro copy ( as its all we could get quickly and we were competing the next day ) .
The pump worked brilliantly for about 6 months, then i noticed the car heating up a bit. I slapped on the wideband to find it was running lean up top, Turns out the old pump didnâ€t just burn out and stop working. It had started to die slowly .
This concerned me greatly. if a pump burns out and stops working. thatâ€s one thing, you can replace it after the tow home. Although running a engine lean can do way more serious damage. (Especially in a turbo application, and big money spent on internals )
I learnt a while ago : do it cheap, do it twice.
