:BangHead:OMG!
So we got off to a late start Friday, 5pmish which means arriving around 11pm. SRAD is still refusing to take ANYTHING for pain after haveing his tooth pulled(Doesn't want pain pills taking the edge off of the thought process)After Midnight when everyone got to sleep. Well Saturday brought a new beginning! Perfect weather cool dense air with low humidity all three of the Bikes were running great! Our friend Von who has been working closely with SRAD to prep his bike for the Mile went looking to run a 175MPH. Imagine his elation when he rolled off the Trailer to the track and ran a 179MPH! AND, when I rolled in with a 17MPH and his smile got even wider! Don't get me wrong we are friends and NOT competitors but I think it was like a little double shot of pride for him, faster than expected AND faster than the HeavyBus. Well he came back with a 183MPH to my 178MPH and more smiles. At this point SRAD pulled me aside and told me to stop messing around and get down to business. SO, I went out the next round and laid down a solid 191.428MPH. When Von came back with a 185.675 his smile was even bigger until he asked what I ran. :laughing7: Silly Boy! Well the next run brought my best pass of the day 192.176MPH! one pass later Von came back with a 190.884MPH! Very impressive for a first time LSR and for a bike with Stock internals. I felt pretty comfortable with the numbers and made the move to our friends 08 Busa. Hugo couldn't find leathers or get entered in time so he asked me to ride his bike. SRAD spent a few days going over it checking things and race prepping it so we could run it. Straight off the trailer on a sitting up shakedown run it ran 171MPH. I was amazed at how much smoother and cleaner the 2nd Gen Busa feels at speed. Not nearly as much wind beating on me! Well each pass got smoother faster and I launched a little harder each time. 176MPH Back to the Pits and the guys pulled the mirrors and the Mufflers, 181MPH 182.399MPH. 182MPH on a bone stock Bike! Faster than I ran on the HeavyBus in October! There were a few more passes to be made on Saturday evening but I was pretty tired by this point. So we called it a day and headed to the room. Well we had more fun. Seems the wireless card in my laptop wouldn't see the Hotels wireless net. And then to top things off my laptop couldn't read the GoPro onboard cameras video signal! Thus no live updates. Sunday brought great air and 15MPH+ headwinds. So speeds were down quite a bit with no higher speeds. There was however one new surprise. Since I began this adventure I have tested in all kinds of winds , West Texas in known for it's high winds. I tested @175MPH with a 25mph cross wind. What I NEVER and I mean NEVER experienced before was wind shear. on two of my run the wind was crossing the track at an angle(Headwind + sidewind) So I was running in the 180's with the bike leaned pretty far over to the left to counter the wind pushing against it. All of a sudden the it jerked HARD to the left and before I could countersteer it jerked hard back right! In just a second or two it was over. I was pretty shcked to say the least and pretty intimidated until Von came in complaining of the same. I happened once more then it was gone. Pretty scarey to say the least. Well that's the quicky version of the weekend here's the Video SRAD put together for me. Hi Nation!
Well I haven't posted up in a while, things have been very busy at work. We have been doing some product upgrades and are currently working on a manual transmission and a ratchet drive system for our race car. The chassis builder called this week finally asking for my height weight and size to start building my roll cage for my car. I don't know if I mentioned a few months ago we were shopping for a building to keep our motorcycles in. Well what we wanted a U S Steel building was going to be $10.000 waay out of our budget, the wooden one they sell and finance at Lowes are about $7500, the cheapest was Coast to Coast which started about $3700. Well SRAD always watches the want ads pretty close and found this building frame 18 X 60 for $250! ![]() Well we took it apart and took it home It was just the frame nothing else so we bought Metal, screws and gaskets for about $900. Overhead door, garage door opener and walk through door were just under $500. We never have tried anything like this before but hey just how difficult could it be? Originally the side walls were only 6 ft so we cut up the roof beams from one set of trusses to make new side walls that were 8 ft tall. We allready had a slab so we anchored the base and framed up the walls and started putting on metal. ![]() Trying to stand on a ladder 11 ft in the air and hold onto a 20ft long piece of metal can be a challenge to say the least! It basically requires 3 people with little or no common sense and pray for no wind gusts! /shop/done.jpg[/IMG]Piece of cake! almost finished! Well it took a little longer than we expected (about 3 months) but things are looking pretty good now it's 18ft X 20ft water tight and all we need now is to wire the electricity and put the trim on the outside. So here's a few pics of the Heavy Bus's new home! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All in all it's pretty nice just not quite as large as we thought it was going to be(seems to have shrunk! 18 X 20 seemed pretty big when we started!) but still plenty of room for our bikes one car work bench tool box etc etc. So thats where I've been for a while helping SRAD finish our shop up. I do have some things coming up including swingarm extensions, and who knows what else. Marie HeavyBusRacing

Well I have a little break and a few free minutes so I guess I should get everyone up to date. It's been a while hope everyones doing fine there I realize I'm writing this yesterday so you won't get to read it till tomorrow(Yep I guess I'm STILL a day behind!
![]() Last year I was offered a Sponsorship by Guy Kaputo of Tiger Racing. http://www.1st-to-the-finish-line.com/index.html ![]() At the time our plate was pretty full, not only did we not have room for new Sponsors or products SRAD didn't really have the development time needed to change the HeavyBus. Well a quick call to Guy a few weeks ago resulted in a renewed offer of support and some great products! Among them guys new custom designed aero front fender for Hayabusas! ![]() No it's NOT a prop from an Alien VS Predator Movie! This fender was the result of quite a bit of research and should hopefully result in improved aerodynamics by pushing the air over and around the bike better! Guy also sent us one of his super trick collapsible billet aluminum laptop tables! This thing is perfect for PC tuning on the go or at the track, strong sturdy and neatly collapsible. ![]() Did I mention STURDY? I guess Rinkley is putting it to the ultimate test because he's just 4lbs short of 50lbs!:eek2: ![]() Remember early on in the project we slammed the HeavyBus well in order to have a semi functioning kickstand we had to chop the end off of the stocker. This leaves a nice shrp small point guarenteed to punch right through asphalt when your not looking. Well Guy to the rescue again! with a handy kickstand pad! ![]() Rounding out the package a LSR tech spec chain guard ![]() Yeppers I already know what your going to say. "Don't you already have a metal chainguard?" Yeppers! "Isn't that a little tooo long?" Nope! SRAD has been hitting EBay and all of the Busa Boards pretty heavy and has come up with a few bargains among them, ![]() Yeppers time to go LONG! I think with a 4" to 6" stretch I should be able to launch much harder and make full throttle shifts in the lower gears. The HeavyBus tries to lift the front in 1st and 2nd no matter what I do so I have to peddle it in the lower gears to keep it down so this should let me launch harder and shift 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd full throttle rather than rolling out and easing back in. Well first things first, I've been picked up by Nitrous Express! I am going with a wet system and a Maximizer and it's a done deal other than paperwork!
![]() Well guess what? I made my first DragStrip Pass Friday nite! My Boss got a wild hair Thursday afternoon and decided to take my TEST GolfCart to the 1/8th Mile DragStrip. So with a short charge cycle and the wrong Motor I said sure lets go for it! Now let me explain for those that don't know, the company I work for builds Electric Vehicle Controllers. This means everything from stock GolfCart replacement Controllers to Electric Car and Truck conversions. We build Controllers for several of the Nations fastest Electric Vehicles on a custom basis also. I have a custom tube chassis Electric Race Car that is supposed to be coming but its been nearly a year in the wait. So back to the Test GolfCart. It has to be capable of testing our larger Controllers so its wired for 120 Volts. It has run over 70MPH GPS'ed on several occasions, and 100MPH should be no problem, except for,, oh wheelies and traction problems and steering and,,,,:eek2: So the idea was just take it out with tires and wheels and a torque strap on the motor. One of the things we are VERY interested in is getting the HotRod GolfCart Market so we want to run something that LOOKS like a STOCK GolfCart. As you can see it looks stock except for wide rear tires and skinny fronts. Thor, Jim(the Owner) and me ![]() ![]() We we got alot of jeers and laughs when we lined the Carts up, Me on the Test GolfCart and the Owners son Thor on a small controller Cart. well without a full charge and with a bad Motor(we didn't know till later) it turned out like this ![]() Most GolfCarts are capable 12 to 15MPH so at 28MPH our "stock Club Car" was double the speed of any GolfCart at the track. I was pretty disappointed with just a 11.59 @ 54.80 MPH but it sure did what we wanted, generate interest! :aplaudir: So I'm looking at about 2 or 3 weeks to get back to racing with this cart and we are talking about adding wheelie bars a steering dampener and traction bars. OK time for a little more catch up. Things have rocking along and the Texas Mile is getting closer so here we go.
Our good friend Terry F is taking his Hayabusa to the Texas Mile this year so SRAD has been helping him prep it. ![]() Last weekend the installed the Boost by Smith DeRistrictor which is supposed to do the same thing as the T.R.E. but better. Improved Idle and lower gear mapping(similar to a Gear Position Sensor Mod) the only thing that changes is the 6th gear map, which the ECU thinks is still in 5th thus defeating the speed limiter. This is a plug and play installation just unplug the GPS and insert it between the plugs. Terry had already bought some exhaust I think it's the Hotbodies, so the next step was safety wiring. According to SRAD this is a secret arcane art. Most of the bolts can be drilled on the bike so the job isn't too bad. We left Terry Guido and SRAD in the shop to do it. After a few hours of drilling, cool drink breaks oh and about a dozen drill bits the bike was done. Me and the Girls were having a ladies day in the Kitchen cooking Lasagna for the guys and just doing all of the things girls do when the guys are not around.(NO! Were were NOT having Pillow fights in our underwear! Why do all guys think that!?). I came out to give Terry the quick rundown on safety wiring. ![]() Well Terry was amazed at the Safety Wire Pliers! Both of our sets are old school airplane twisters SRAD says are very old all I know is that they work very well, and he guards them like a treasure. So a few quick pointers and Terry was on his way to twisting wire. ![]() Things went pretty quick from there with a break for dinner than Terry wanted to get some pics of his bike and asked us girls to help. Misty and Tammy helped him get it on the stand. Funny thing why is it you Guys always seem to do this all by your self until there's girls around? So Misty and Tammy gave Terry a little hand. ![]() Which strangely enough turned into "Hey How about you girls take a pic with my Bike?" We should have known better! ![]() ![]() Hahaha little did he know what was next! YOU wanted something, help with your bike and some "Girly Pics" Now it's OUR turn! Polish the HeavyBus! ![]() AND polish the Nail Polish! ![]() As you can see SRAD and Guido were smart enough to steer clear of the Estrogen zone, they basically threw Terry under the Bus! Or maybe they threw him under the HeavyBus!hahahahaha

Thanks for being a good sport Terry!
My new Motor set up for the October Mile! ![]() Well here's picture of all of the Girls after we watched the Divine secrets of the YAYA sisterhood and before they called it a night and headed home. ![]() Well lets get down to business. As I said earlier GuyKaputo at Tiger Racing http://www.1st-to-the-finish-line.com/index.html put together a nice sponsorship package chief among the things he set us up with was this cool aero front fender that he builds. ![]() SRAD was really amazed at the quality he said it looked like a hand laid one off because the quality was so high and there are even dimples to line up the drill for mounting holes. I used a small pilot bit to start the hole so it would be centered. And as a bonus,, SRAD's storage box for the drill got free ventilation holes. ![]() You might notice the handy cordless Dewalt drills in the picture strangely enough every single battery for both drills was down. This resulted in a small tantrum on SRADs part and having to use a 110 volt plug in drill to do Terry's bike. HAHahah By the time I got to the fender Mine was charged up! ![]() Well with everything drilled it's time to install Tiger Racings new aero fender on the HeavyBus. Amazingly easy straight forward bolt on just 3 over here ![]() Three more over here, believe it or not it bolted pretty much straight on with no mods! ![]() and there ya go! This fender was designed to help push air not only over the front of the bike but also out around the sides. The radiator and oil cooler basically act like a great big air brake by restricting and slowing air flow, so pushing the air out and to the sides rather than into the Radiator should slick things up some. Great for LSR not so great for the street. ![]() As you can see with the new 6" stretch, dropped and the new fender it looks like a different bike! Now my personal preference is to paint the fender to match the HeavyBus But SRAD has a good point in that leaving it white draws much more attention to a Sponsored product. What do YOU think? ![]() There's no doubt that from this angle it looks all business! I can't wait to get the chain on and do a few test runs! ![]() Does this make my butt look big?: ![]() The end (for today anyway) Marie HeavyBusRacing.com |
