Riders mileages should be compared against litres used, not just 'per tank'. I average about 250k's for 16 litres, commuting in freeway and city traffic. Bike has done 10thou. Was thirstier when newer, but probably because I was still excited when riding it. Now the motor rarely goes over 7k revs.

Only about 4k's to the Office, and I guess I'm not particularly gentle with the throttle :) i don't think its out of tune, its just a guzzler, might try the C-Mode for commuting and see if that gives better economy...what am I talking about, slap me someone:)

Well said Bigjay, by the way have you had your bike down at S and R for a tune/dyno since getting your new pipe? Curious as to what HP you are getting now, mine will be tuned (hopefully) by end of next week.

Buggered if I know, fuel light has always come on about 300ks best 320ks and worst would have been 260 maybe but I do hardly any riding in traffic living outside Mackay, all country riding and not too reckless but I still give it to it. I regularly got less than 5 litres/100k on ride down to WSBK at PI. Hayabusa must have most fuel efficient motor going for the power it puts out IMO, in contrast I also have Firestorm and you have to plan your trips between bowsers to be below 200ks or you will be walking, try around 8.5 litres/100k.

ive done 360km on 18.2 ltrs at fill up and that was on a bit of a spirited ride up the hills just north of brisy and back along the hiway due to rain. so it all depends on the style but now i have a yoshie and PC on board so havent checked it lately. but 150 seems a little steep.
busa, love em

Hi Redkatana,
So you do 4km trips on your Busa? mate the engine isn't even warm so you are pushing very thick oil around your engine whihc takes power - a lot of power plus your bike hasn't reached its optimal thermal temperature. No wonder you are getting bad fuel economy.
Most of your engine wear occurs until it gets warm so be gentle on the throttle. Also with 4 km trips your bike is doing "severe" service so the oil should be changed more frequently.
Cheers

The 09 can be very fuel efficient if you want it to be or it can turn into as thirsty as anything.
I rode mine to Halls Gap from Adelaide with a group of SVs (650s and 1000s) when they had to stop to fill up I was only putting in about 10l. I had the stock pipes on.
Now that I have some Jardine GP1 pipes on I am lucky to get 150 km out of a tank. Mind you the power is up and I like to use it.
I'd be buggered if I know what is normal for a busa.
Ive only mesured 2 tanks on mine so far.
i got ~240k's from 16L's while being extremely gentile ( read: ZZzzz ) , 15% city k's the rest on the hiway from brisbane to the gold coast and back.
now im near 1000's ( im on 999 atm . woot !) my eccon is about 160 to 16l's, although thats 60% stop start, and 40% around town with almost no congestion.
Although im heavy on the throttle even riding everyday. so im not surpised. The econ has been about on par with my old 99 zx7r ( they were tanks ).
