WSID Pro Street Bike (PS/B) 2009-10

Pro Street Bike (PS/B)
Due to the level of interest expressed among local racers, Western Sydney Dragway is set to welcome a
new Group 4 Bracket for motorcycle competitors. Based along similar lines to that of the popular Willowbank
Raceway model, initiated by Peter Everett, Pro Street Bike will be introduced to WSID Bracket Meetings at
the first event of the new season on Saturday, August 1, 2009.
Initially, while we assess the level of competition and its local popularity, Pro Street Bike will be run on a
Fixed Index of 9.50-seconds and on a PRO tree. The Bracket will be run as a Chicago Shootout when 16
bikes or less are entered. Where more than 16 bikes are entered, we will run Heads-up Eliminations.
During its introductory stage, Pro Street Bike will not be included in the WSID Track Championship Series
for 2009–2010. Competitors will run for trophies only during this season while we assess the possibility of its
inclusion for the following seasonâ€s championship series. That decision will depend on the ongoing level of
racer support for the Bracket throughout its introductory period.
Competitors cannot cross-enter two Brackets with one motorcycle (ANDRA General Regulations 5.9). Any
competitor who wishes to enter Modified Bike and Pro Street Bike may do so but must enter two separate
bikes under separate entry forms and pay two separate entry fees. The event schedule will be structured so
that those riders who choose to enter both Brackets on separate bikes will have adequate time to join the
staging lanes ahead of their qualifying and elimination rounds.
The rules for the Bracket are as follows:
• No wheelie bars
• No nitromethane fuel
• No mechanical or electronic engine delay devices permitted
• All bikes and riders must comply fully with ANDRA rules and regulations. Refer ANDRA Licence and
personal safety requirements for all riders quicker than 10.50-seconds.
Chicago Shootout race format
Competitors in a Chicago Shootout will qualify as normal over two or three rounds of qualifying as per the
event schedule. In racing each competitor will race three times against a different racer.
• A win will receive two (2) points
• A loss will receive one (1) point
• A no-show receives zero (0) points
• The two competitors with the most points after three rounds of racing will contest the final.
Chicago Shootout contingencies
• In the event of an uneven field the three top qualifiers over the 9.50 index will be awarded bye
runs.
• In the event of a scheduled bye run, or a solo run where an opponent has broken, a rider must
complete a pass representative of the bikeâ€s previous performance for win points to be awarded.
• In the event of both riders going under 9.50 in a single race, the rider closest to 9.50 in that race
will be awarded the win for that round.
• If more than two riders are on maximum points after three rounds of racing the two riders closest
to 9.50 over the index, in the last round of racing, will contest the final.
• If a competitor has to withdraw from racing during race rounds they must immediately notify the
Bracket Marshal. If you have withdrawn you cannot run any further rounds of racing.
Thank you for your support of WSID and my best wishes for a safe, exciting and rewarding racing season.
John Henman

Not the same bike is a bit unfair, knocks out a few before we start. Will have to check to see where that one come from.

9.5 WTF.I,ll have to start in second gear so i wont break out.I thought it was an aspirational class.9.5 is no mans land.they should at least try a stock height 10.0 class and the 9.0 class. If i enter i,m chasing an et in the qualifiers and if the chicago shootout allows i might get another 3 cracks at it.8,8,8 sounds like a lucky number.

I spoke to Aaron today (ANDRA) he said he will looking into it & see what he can come up with tonight at EC, He is very level headed Guy but didn't know about the changes after putting in so much work into it for us I thought he would have been consulted first on his thoughts, Hang tight Guys helps on its way, 9.5s maybe it as there is not enough 9.0 runners, there are heaps of 9.5ers but. It may not be what you guys want to hear, but perhaps they may have had a look into the history of what numbers the bikes run in Sydney. Yes there are some quick bikes running low nines and quicker but the chances of getting them all to the same meeting time and time again are slim, whereas getting bikes running mid nines to every meeting is far more achievable. Either way I still have some practice to do but would support it a lot sooner on a 9.50 index than the 9.0.. Just my thoughts Rob

then why not a 10.00 class so people dont need an andra licence. No dyo, just 10.00 heads up pro tree.I wonder how many 9.5 runners put in the legwork to get the class to this point compared to those intending to run 9.0.I dont see the point of a standalone index like this as many interstaters wanted to compete in pro street to bolster the numbers wherever it runs and possibly develop into a national series.Guys are getting pretty efficient with container hiring to ship alot of bikes interstate to compete and flying over to race.A 9.5 class may get up but i,m yet to see many 9.50 bikes out there, let alone 9.5 riders.

I dont want to step on any toes but all I am saying is with a 9.50 index it might get the support it needs to get up and running then [with the support] step the index up to 9.0 and run it as a national class. I for one want to see it go ahead but I also know how hard it is to run a 9.0 bike having previously owned one. Rob

what some may not realise is its prostreet/bike not pro/streetbike.Meaning alot of comp bikes were considering the class,a/ streeters and a b/ streeters with an arm is right there.this means no new bikes have to be built or riders getting up to speed to get the numbers for the class. Its a real licorice allsorts class. If it were a genuine limited mod sportsbike class eg slammed and piped, stock length id agree as a 9.5 index would be a reasonably good index, but thats not what the intention of the class is.A 9.5 index should be a true streetbike class.
Personally i was looking forward to racing effe,s and big motored kats, even detuned outlaws,it keeps it interesting.A 9.5 class feeding the 9.0 class??9.5 bike is a stock engined streetbike, a 9.0 bike is a purpose built race bike.Ive got nothing against a 9.5 class, but its not prostreet/bike,call it something else.
