Thanks for the support guys.
It's never nice, never planned... I'm heading north again Saturday night to pick up the shattered souls there at the moment. The news has had a rude shock on her and its pretty hard to accept the (very immenient) finality. It was secondaries, that was found in the liver, in a nasty spot. No options and no point in testing for the primary.
I did a lot of grieving 5 years ago when an accumulation of her behaviour, how she treated me, etc... gave me no option but to distance myself from her, I always had the door open if she chose to address her issues and rebuild from there. Apparently she didn't...
So now I return, not because she asked me, but because there a shattered people left there only barely holding on.

It got my Mum in 2005. Not nice watching someone you loved all of your life wither and fade away under the Big C.
