Removing stickers without damage to paint?

Hi all,

Has anyone got some hot tips on how to remove stickers without damaging the paintwork? I want to remove the stickers of the tank on my new K9 i.e. the Warning, Premium Fuel & Immobiliser stickers as well as the tyre pressure one on the left side of the swing arm.

The Suzuki dealer said they had a guy in there that was good at it but, after booking my bike in and the Service Manager putting big black Nikko crosses through these stickers so the service guys knew which ones to remove, they are now saying he no longer wants to do it as he is worried about leaving rub marks on the paintwork, particularly on my black K9.

So I'm left with stickers with crappy black X marks through them - right in my face every time I look at the bike.

Any ideas?

its a prick of a thing to do, i use a hair dryer to heat them , then slowly rub them away, be prepaired to get blistered thumbs

Easiest job in the world.
Just leave the bike in the warm sun for an hour or so and they just peel off.
Carefully lift one corner or edge and they pull away if warm enough.
It is important to warm the whole bike and not just use a heat gun on the sticker although that system will work eventually.
By warming the whole area the glue just softens and comes away, usually still attached to the back of the sticker.
If there is any residue, just use a little Goo Remover and a soft cloth.

Eucalyptus oil, will do the same job as the Goo remover.

Leave in it the sun to warm up, the wifes fingernails are the best thing to get that 1st corner up. I also used Eucalyptus oil to remove the reside.

I then finish of with isopropyl alcohol (medi-wipes, tape head cleaner, electronics cleaner and some chemists). It is also good for cleaning if you want to stick any 2 parts together. I haven't come across anything that it damages.

I did the HOT hair dryer on all mine. About 5 mins a lable. Took all the gum and everything. No residue left to clean away. No marks left on the duco.

Heat + Eucalyptus Oil = Nice Shiny Tank with no stickers.
