Loud crack sound
#1
Lately when i start my 01' Busa, i hear a loud crack sound in the motor while pressing the starter button, i have to stop what i'm doing and press it again then it's all good and starts like it should, i'm assuming it's the starter motor not connecting properly with the starter gear, does anyone know if i'd be right in that assuption?
Just to add, the old girl is due for a full srvice (maybe overdue, have put 6000 k's since last service) i'm about to drop the oil and replace the filter, but i don't think that has anything to do with it..... i'm not sure?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Have you got one of those blue and silver models? They all do that just before they blow up!

Joking of course. Just letting you know we are reading your message.

Fucknose what the problem is, what sort of craking noise is it? If it makes you run and hide in a safe place I suggest you need to be worried. If not, I suggest you have a mecanic have a listren and give yuou some ideas of what is going ioon.

Sorry for the typoes, the JDs arev pretty good tonight. Sounds like your motor is f****d. better get some expurt considerations.

Nope its just your starter clutch which is about to give away, hence this is a signal to buy a new once as soon you will be needing one.

Cheers,

Bill
PS> I had the similar problem and in about 6 months the starter clutch is now gone and being replaced as we speak.

Yep, sounds like it could be the starter clutch. If you do a quick search for starter clutch you may find the previous discussions. It can be caused by a flat battery not having enough punch to fire it up.

Cheers guys Beer Clap
As a matter of fact i have had the problem of the battery going flat on me a few times when i haven't ridden for about a week, it's let me down at the times i'm about to go for a ride or to attend an appointment (Damn Murphy's law), i think the battery goes flat more since i've installed the Scorpio, have since bought a smart charger, but i'd probably be better off getting a REAL battery (YUASA) i think it's got one of those ones you find in a weetbix box Lol3
I'm unemployed at the moment, so budget is slim to none for now Embarassed

KMART has Exide Batteries for the busa 75$.

i doubt you will find cheaper anywhere, i was amazed to see it so cheap!

but yeah, buggered batteries kill the starter clutch quicksmart, so if i were you i woudl clutch it to start it until you get a new battery.
