Life. What's it all about?

Life is really a mystery!

But to level it out, I use this phrase whenever it needs to be applied.

"Change what you can, Except what you cant.

Some times i feel sorry for myself, wishing I had more money, bigger house, moaning about being sick or an ache in my back etc etc.

It takes one trip to town to see some one with a white stick tapping at the ground finding their way, or some one in a wheel chair just getting on with it. Or parents with a disabled child.

Humans are amazing in so many ways, but just as dissapointing in others too.

If you don't have morals..............you really dont have much at all!!

Ok I can't sleep anyway so I'll add my 2cents.

Why are we here? Because (insert diety of choice here) in my case God, wants us to ultimately have a closer relationship with him. How you choose that is up to you. You are also supposed to enjoy what you do and how you do it
What is life - Its what you make of it and what your destiny is. I believe your life is mapped out and everything (good and bad) that happens to you does so for a reason. You either learn from or become stronger from the experience
Do we die - Yup siree Bob.
Is there an afterlife - Yes I think there is and I also believe that loved ones who have passed on come back and check on you via your dreams, and thoughts. You know you could be thinking of something totally not related to them and then you'll flash to an event involving them or dream about them. I miss my Dad and I'll see some old guy who looks nothing like him and something about that man will remnnd me about Dad. Its bad if I see a old guy on a horse

Just a little interesting story I thought I'd share with you all.

My grandfather died when I was 3 years old. I was the apple of his eye by all accounts. When my son would pose with my grandmother at christmas lunches etc there would always be an orb of light appear in the photos right next to his shoulder. Every other photo (film or digital) would turn out ok but when it was my son & my grandmother together (& a few with me as well) there would always be something not quite right with the photo.
I believe grandad was there with his great grandson & wife in those photos.

There is always more than meets the senses to life.

Life exists when you worry about death.

So whilst your still alive - just live life the best way you know how and let death worry about itself.

I agree, as Slartibartfast say's in the movie version of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy
"Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I think that the chances of finding out what's actually going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say, "Hang the sense of it," and keep yourself busy. I'd much rather be happy than right any day."
This is one of my favourite sayings from the movie because letâ€s face facts
1. No One can prove life after death, and by prove I mean the ghost of Adolf Hitler being made to stand trial for war crimes type proof, not scary stories that no one seems to be able to prove or repeat.
2. There is only one way to know if thereâ€s life after death and thatâ€s to die, for good, not for some medical record where you see white lights and departed super models but dead as in permanent.
3. Even if there was some way to see beyond death we would not have the ability to understand what we were looking at as the human mind is not capable of truly understanding the reality of eternity, this is a proven scientific fact and the bane of many in the scientific community especially in Mathematics and Physics. The quest to define infinity has driven some men mad, such is the limitation of our current evolution.
4. What an arrogant species we are, we actually define our own sentience based on guess work, faith and some pretty shaky science and then declare ourselves to be the children of an all omnipotent being that will provide continuity beyond the physical form, I mean really.
As Socrates said “The only thing I know is I know nothing” and for all our achievements we are still bound by the physical laws of existence and the limits of our mind.
But do not despair, as thereâ€s a joker in the pack called faith, but thatâ€s a discussion best left for another time.

Are we all connected?

Bike riders don't think about that?
Life is simple...H A Y A B U S A that IS all.
Give me a break.
We ALL think about death.

Interested to hear different perspectives.

"There is nothing at all"s need not apply..unless you have a reasonable argument. Don't waste your time here.

This could turn into the "useless bits of info see if we can make a million posts thread" but I hope it has just a tad more substance..
Let's face it this IS reality.

I had my cat put down a couple of days ago, Sharny, it was my first time.

She was a good age at 15 and lived, for the most part a happy life, firstly with me and my wife and then 3 children.

She was a wild street cat, my wife found her in some scrub with a litter outside of where she worked and decided to bring them home.

I was surprised at the depth of my emotions at loosing this annoying, stupid, stubborn, 1/2 feral mongrel that only came to you when she wanted something and generally was a four legged furry pot plant that moved around with the sun.

Her sudden death and my unexpected deep sense of loss opened my eyes to what a precious gift my family and our commitment to each other, cat, fish and bird alike is including all the common events that make up our days together.

I donâ€t believe we are capable of understanding the meaning of life, thatâ€s assuming there even is one.

And I certainly donâ€t believe we are cable of understanding death, again, assuming death outside of the physical even exists.

But I do know that we seem to waste a lot of time worrying about it all while the precious seconds of our lives slip through our fingers.

Life, for the most, is what you make it, I intend to try and spend more time living and less time worrying.

Perhaps this was Sharnyâ€s parting gift to me, God knows she did bugger all else for the last 15 years except eat and sleep, and I wouldnt have had it any other way Very Happy
