I noticed modern motor magazine did some 1000m testing of their performance car shootout there.Do i see an opportunity for a few enquiries here for curious nsw busa riders??Cootamundra can be on the way to jindabyne too.Lol3Just putting the idea out there.I know i,m not selling my busa until it goes over 300........ officially anyway.

just checked the ersa for the coota airport. total length is 1427m and stars at 18m wide and widens to 30m. suppose it depends how much braking distance you like having. if your keen to set something like this up spaman let me know ill have a chat with the boss at work when we start up in the new year see if we know anyone at that airport. also if it helps i got australia wide airside clearance which might make things easier in a security sense for the airport manager. by the looks of it shes not an overly busy airport only thing that might phase us compared to cars would be the surface not sure what the surface is like and if its getting a bit old like alot of these bush strips theres alot of loose aggregate sitting on the surface.

thats going to get you ~900m accel and a safe braking distance, and probably not 300kph .
Similar to the Casino airfield where the streetfighter guys run in April

we are doing 250 in 400m,i would have thought youd hit 300 in another 500m.Don,t fancy heavy braking on loose gravel though.May still be worthy of closer inspection, perhaps running in the reverse direction would have the best bitumen at the braking end?

jsut really depends on the surface its self. if its a good bit of hot mix there shouldnt be any issues. theres a few other strips around that are getting up around the 1600-1700m range and this would probably suit us a bit better. and knowing alot of these bush airports struggle for cash some might jump at the chance. if we can get a good number together busa club or not then we may have a bit of money we could throw at the airport managers which generally in the back blocks tend to be local council workers. if we can get a good show of interest ill start looking around see if i can find something a bit longer that may be a pretty quiet strip we could have the run of for a few days.

I reckon it'd be easy done in under 2.1km with a run up from the taxiway turning left onto the runway. If I exit turn 2 of QR National at about 180 - 210, I'm into the last 20 kph of a K7 speedo by the braking point of the back straight about 400 - 450 metres later, and I'm a chicken. I have 4% error in my speedo.

310+kph at WSID can be a bit of an eye opener to pull up in 500m.

Same at Willowbank you have to miss the first exit.

Hard braking results in rear wheel locking up due to nose diving, braking has to be done smoothly so stopping time is increased.

Maybe we should put up a pole (no not a nudy pole) to see interest - genuine interst, I will def in and happy to travel + a few dollors to the cause; (we could even include the gay white bikes just to get the numbers up).

Be hard pressed to get the sock K8 up around 300 but fun to try - got my vote

Ok from experiance at Casino, my turbo streetbike could get to 191 mph (gps) in the 900m, its not a drag strip, big wide aircraft markers are slippery and hard to avoid, on this bike i run 9.2 and 165 mph only difference is straps at the drags. then there was a 450m stopping distance and then ~200m of grass with aircraft markers(concrete triangles )in there somewhere.
I could just stop in that distance,~40-50m spare at turnout probably 20 or less for a complete stop..that was sitting up into the wind at the brake marker and braking hard...
Leonards comments about nose dive are not to be taken lightly , not only does the rear unload, at that speed the front suspension will be pretty well bottomed out as soon as you take the engine torque away, probably completely when braking, front will lock up easier and if the forks have been pushed through the tripple clamps much you risk binding the front guard and nosecone, several landspeed guys have crashed from too low in the front , i have had a big hi speed weave from this too.
Airfield event would be fun but don't forget the hazards.
I'm sure the Casino event is open to the public in April for those that don't mind traveling or live in the area.

good feedback maj.For those who are familiar with heavy braking from big speed it can be daunting.Eastern creek into turn one i slow down from a gps 277 or so down to about 200 very quickly but not all the way to a stop. The initial head up into the breeze is pretty intense, chucking it on its side down onto your knee takes some convincing to do as well.UndecidedNot all beer and skittles it seems.
