i got the call at 11 this morning, was quite shocked and felt like shit, got to speak to dad and he sounded a little distressed but assured me he would be fine.

as i understand, he had injured his arm, and some vertabrea aswell.

hoping he will be out in 3-4 days, but we will see what happens.

Same Keiran. We met that time I spent about three days in the spare room.

I left your Dad at 3.30 today and he looked great. I'm going to see him tomorrow and hopefully drag Lisa away for lunch. If you want to talk about what happened or how he looks, give me or Loafie a call. Don't worry, call me instead if you want. 0417 234 704.

P.S. If I get prank calls from the rest of you loonies, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE!

Hi there,

Kathy and I have made it home ok, and Chris has been dropped at home to his family. Both bikes are locked up in the garage safe and sound. I will do some rearranging of the garage during the week. I am also going to siphon fuel as I do not know what the tank integrity is like on both bikes, and I am not going to risk a fire.

It's been a long 24hrs, but we would happily do it again to help out fellow busa members if we were able to do so. I would like to thank Simmo and Loafie for making sure we had somewhere to sleep and for having a breakfast pass available for us at Jindy. I would also like to thank those who rode to Adaminaby (Max, Heidi, Loafie, Simmo) to help us load. We would also like to thank Mary and Max for their hospitality in the ACT and again to Max and Heidi for guiding the diesel Patrol through Canberra.

We both look forward to catching up with you all once the smoke has died down. Chris and John, dont worry about your bikes, they are safe in Sydney and we will look after them as long as you need to get well. We can sort out getting them home to you when you are ready. We may have a get together around our place in the next few months, to catch up and wind down. All will be welcome.

Lastly, best wishes to John and Chris and their respective families. Our thoughts are with you, if there is anything else you need then call us.

Heidi, Whoever rings you with a prank call, it was Simmo, honest....Roll

Hi all this is Mrs Ruffy staying at the madmax household -best digs in Canberra- Max always calls Mary "marvelous"she has opened her home and heart to me, made me laugh, had the tissues on hand when needed, made sure I had a comfortable bed (thanks Amanda) has driven me all over Canberra and has always handed me a glass of wine at the end of an emotional day, she is very deserving of her "marvelous" tag.Max has given me his car keys and thrown his credit card at me (not a good thing to leave at home but go figure) Max & Mary& kids are Grouphug the best people.Well what a weekend! John wants to send his thanks to all who went above and beyond the call of friendship.TrophyYou are all an amazing, great group of people-Kath & Graham - words I fail to find to express my thanks in making sure Johns beloved red bus made it back to Sydney.Loafie in organising the tow,the first on scene to make sure both guys were safe and secure and get help on the way.Steve who gave his prayers,Simmo for the police contact # and the offer of a ride to home and to all of you who have made contact----Thanks.And last but by know means least Heidi ,thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.........
You are an amazing inspiring beautiful person you were my rockClap
Finally a Ruffy update:well he is in a neck brace, 2 fractured vertabrae c6 & c7.His left arm is numb- can not move it- he has feeling in his fingers and can move them but the thumb is numb from the nail down to the wrist. But today he did require pain management for his arm - go the drugs -he even mentioned how much he wants a K9( I could kill him but maybe not this week)The MIR should happen on Monday so we will know more then.Max is trying to organise a wireless laptop for John @ the hospital so he can send updates himself. He is in a ward now on his own & he is armed with his phone so if you want to ring him and have a chat feel free.Well thats it from me another wine is on the table, so ride safe all ,bye for now....... Mrs Ruffy
Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!

No worries Lisa. We figured that you had a lot of things to worry about, and that by getting the bikes back to Sydney for you that we could reduce that list by one. Kathy and I are both thinking of you. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery and that everything works out well.

No problem for the prayers Mrs Ruffy!! i think prayers were answered as the ambulance officers were really worried about internal injuries on the mountain so i felt it nesscessary to pray for them both before they left up there! I wish John and Chris many blessings and of course you wonderful wives out there that let us Men ride these awsome machines!!! Men still need a hobbie (even if it is the fastest motorcycle in the world) otherwise we'd just be bothering you to keep us entertained Lol3 again anything we can do give us a call!!
