I was just wondering what tank bags you guys use? My previous bikes have all had the Bagster cover/bag system in place but after a rather nasty experience on my Z1000 (where the bag actually rubbed some paint and a small hole in the tank) I thought I would look at other options.
I've never used a magnetic bag before - how do these hold up compared to the starp on styles and do most brand fit the busa tanks well?
Also, apart from the ventura racks what do you guys use on the back for long trips with a pillion?
Note that I have on K8 busa if that makes a difference!
Cheers.

Browse down a bit and see the discussion on the Hayabusa GT Tourer.
There is no such bike but "busdriver" has converted his stock busa into one.

i previously used a magnetic tank bag and it was great, since i got an 08 Busa i grabbed a bagster but now your freakin me out with your horror story :-) i'll keep an eye on my tank!!! but the bag is good tried back packs and after a 800k day your shoulders tend to ache maybe just showing my age!!! but tank bags of some kind are my favourite!!!
I'd rather be riding my Hayabusa thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my Hayabusa
I've used backpacks before and I just not a big fan. I'm currently using one at the moment but as soon as I get the tank bag sorted I'll ditch the back pack!
As for the Bagster on the Z it was a one off but something I should have discovered before it happened.....there were two tabs near the seat that the foam had not been glued on properly and one has rubbed through. Add that I had not washed the bike in 6 months and had not taken the cover off it and I guess I deserved it for not picking it up. Just check your bag to make sure there are "no scratchie" bits and you should be fine!
In your experence do the magnetic bags move around at all compared to the Bagster units? I've heard reports that they do, depending on the brand? I do like the idea of just taking the bag off when yuo are done though!

Hi there.
Here's my solution:

But be careful. Everyone will want you to carry their shit if you've got room.
Cheers

Just proves what a thin skinned bike the Kwack is bloke. This is my third Busa and my third Bagster. I take the bagster off every 6 months or so to clean any dust from underneath. Every time I do, I find a brand new looking paint job underneath. I wont have a bike without one now.
The magnetic bags get bits of dirt either thrown up by passing vehicles or picked up by the magnets and caught between paint and bottom of the magnetic bag.
Go Bagster - the secret to keeping scratch free being to tighten the bagster cover down firmly and clean the dust out irregularly.
My 2 cents worth
ps - gee your blackandblue is looking great Phil!!

hey mate, my magnetic was on my ZZR100 and had been over 200 a few times and never moved, scratches i never had any problem but i would always check for small metal stones (they seem to like the magnets) keep em clean your right though!!! the bagster bag is a bit smaller i think but it is a much better fit and with the backpack straps it's easy to just take off and wack on your back..

I go the ventura bags on the rack - i'm only small so I don't like anything on my back particularly. Also the ventura bags can lug my medical texts - there's no bloody way I am carrying them! Next I am waiting on the bagster tank cover then purchase a bag to clip on.
