What is the harm in switching to a full synthetic oil at low kms?
My 08 is nearit's 6000k service and I was considering going to full synthetic. I figure the engine should be completely run in by now so there would not be any bore glazing issues etc.
Has anyone had any warranty issues that have been related to using an oil that is not recommended by Suzuki (do Suzuki support the use of full synthetic if problems arise)?
Some people have said it's not worth changing the oil any sooner than the service intervals. From my understanding I'm inclined to disagree if it takes a couple of years or more to clock up the km's. The detergents and additives in mineral based oils break down quicker than that resulting in poorer oil performance, particularly in avoiding sludge deposits.
hi man,
prior to my rebuild ( way over 120,000km's) , i didnt change oil regularly, atleast 25,000 between oilchanges of semi synthetic motul ( although i may have squeezed a filter change every 15,000) and i thrashed the ring out of the busa ALL the time
when i pulled the engine apart, i was AMAZED, because everything was in top condition
no staining
no sludge
no marks on the bores or bearings ( mains+ bigends)
no scoring on the followers or cam.
it was in impeccable condition.
there was some " clutch" material in the pickup strainer, ( origional clutch with welded BTL) thats it!
it spun me out...
needless to say, i am sticking with MOTUL semi synthetic.
