Yep im with pommie good way of doing it as i have droped one of stand many years ago and dont mind saying so Shit Happens.

Thanks to all the practical help re removing the scratches. The replacement parts, genuine suzuki, cost $150. I've continued to use swirl X to lower the scratch threshold. To the rant wise arse who can't understand how it could happen twice maybe he would understand better knowing that I had an accident at home 23 August where the ladder gave way and I came down pretty hard - broke a bone in my neck, four fractured ribs plus. On reflection I shouldn't have been doing it alone ie getting the bike off the stand, and since I got my motorcycle licence at 17 my riding experience puts me now aged 56 a mere 39 years, so suck eggs! That is a great idea! i used to have no trouble putting the bike on the stand on my own, but then I got a fright and now I'm a bit sus about it. I reckon the 2x4 mod might just do the trick!

When putting the bike down, I stand on the left side, bend over and put my shoulder against the rear fairing. Left arm over the seat to grab the bike, and then use the right arm to lift the stand. Very easy to balance the bike like that, not to mention that pulling it to the left is quite easy from that position.

i find a slight amount of pressure on the passenger foot peg on the left side when bringing the bike down is sufficent to bring the bike down and to the left onto the side stand. im with whoever said they use the frame where the seat/hump attaches to the subframe. i take my hump or seat off and grab a firm hold on that part of the frame to keep the bike upright
