concerned gps units on windscreen's

driving to work today ive notice a taxi with a gps device and a few other things hanging of his windscreen and he was hardly able to see over the steering wheel, thort to myself that a bit silly and dangerous for us bikers cause its a major blind spot for him, so started looking round at the intersection and fair enuff the bloody things are on shit loads of windscreens! fugg me makes me bloody angry every time i here the excuse "sorry i neva seen ya there" makes me wana take to the streets with a bat and wack the darn things every time i see em now! grrrr

yes funny how its illegal to talk on mobiles while driving (a personal hate of mine and I let every f*&^ing wanker know it when I see them do it!!) but you are allowed to play with your GPS and take eyes off road etc .... and us bikers get shit canned all the time and yet we are the most aware drivers out there ??? gee politics - fair huh

its a tuff one to police but the rules regarding GPS are that it must be set so you can hear it give directions so you dont need to look at the screen and all "fiddling" must be done while stationary. but how the hell can you police it

I have no idea what the rules are, but I would have thought the position on the windscreen would somehow come under the same old rule as stuff hanging from the rear-vision mirror. ie. blocking view & distracting.

yeah good point Dan - I am on the road for at least 4-5 hours every day and the amount of people I see talking on mobiles is staggering - plus nearly got run off the road the other day on the bike from a mobile talker and he didnt even realise or acknowledge (he acknoledged my vent when I got off the bike at the next lights though fucker) friggin amazes me how people dont give a shit and the coppers never pull them over - if I see so many how come they dont after all they are supposed to be out and about policing but no rather give me a ticket for some stupid shit just cos I ride a bike F@#$#@K f*** I HATE COPS!!

Just thought i'd let you know that the local police had a blitz on "talking on the phone while driving" the other day (the 3rd i think). I live on a main road in Newcastle, and when leaving for work noticed a guy leaning up against my front fence. I was just about to enquire as to what he was doing, when i noticed the radio / 2way tucked away behind him...he was trying to be as casual as he could be, while still looking at every car go past. I also noticed some cars in the opposite direction flashing their lights as if there was police around the corner...
Later on the radio i heard that they caught about 150 or so in the Newcastle area alone...

Pretty sneaky, but does get the job done...

Yeah i would like to see a police officer take the time to book some one for placing in center of windscreen but i dont think they would waste there time, i was done for speeding last week then when i could not produce licence the bloke said well i can take you down to the station to prove who i am , i said well go for it mate im paid by the hour he didn,t gust gave me one more ticket $15 for not producing licence

I see the turds all the time. Too busy stuffing around with their GPS systems, phones etc and not paying attention to the road. One feels very vunerable wering Lyrcra for a variety of reasons...

I saw a P plater the other day in an old shitbox with the GPS stuck just the right of the rear vision mirror. If that wasn't bad enough, he had all the wiring wrapped aroung the mirror and hanging down to the dashboard!

Don't get me going on bloody car drivers............
