That's true Pinki. I only ever used the second bottom setting. The higher settings are not recommended without full snow-spec winter gloves. And you shouldn't have them on when you're stationary unless it's -20 outside!
I also found that the heated grips were more comfortable because they had a larger diameter, just felt nicer to hold - like a thicker steering wheel on your car.

That has been my only issue (otherwise I would have fitted them years ago), the diameter is too large for me with the heated handgrips. I have girl hands (NOT GIRLIE), and they are just a bit big. Bruce suggested the KTM wires that fit under the existing grips, but I got talked out of them in the shop. I might try fitting them without the glue like Pug suggests and see what happens. That way if I can't stand them, I'll pull them off and sell them cheap on the board.
By the sounds of that, the Oxford grips may not be the right thing for you. Take a squiz at this Pashnit Busa Mods - Heated Grips - he's a great bloke who does thousands of miles on his busa. This style of under-grip heating element keeps the normal grip but offers the heat. It may work out better for you. If it hadn't worked well for Pashnit, he would post it up but to be honest, he's a fan.
I might suggest you got talked out of it because there's a little difference in price...

Heidi, Just picked up my new Oxford heated grips this morning from MCA in Castle hill these are the new model with digital adjustment. Cost $116.96
I've bitten the bullet, I went and chatted to my mate at the bike shop and he reckons we can take them on and off if I can't stand it. Mine has the digital readout too, but mine cost $130. AND I paid ticket price! I haven't paid full price in years.
Heidi, as much as I respect guys who work in bike shops, they're strangely enough there to sell bike stuff. If you try them on your bike, will they give you a full refund? If not, it could be a expensive experiment. Try Madmax's offer and see if they suit you first. Then if you don't like it, you haven't opened the packet.

Now I've seen a few variety's of these around. Are the one's as Heidi's talking above, or I've seen ones with a wrap-around type on the grip.
Are there any to steer clear of?

Oxfords get really hot but have softer settings if you have girly hands and thin skin. I can't imagine anyone on this board having thin skin! I did have some intermittant on-off issues with mine but Les fixed this last time we had the front off.
