Oxford heated hand grips

I've just bought a set and read the instructions. Once they are on, can they never be removed again? There is talk of superglue.

I KNOW!!! I AM BESIDE MYSELF WITH HORROR!!! I spent an hour in the shop talking myself out of it!! I'm only doing it for the big trip, which is why I'm asking if they can be removed like the guy in the shop said they could. That way, I can have them on for the trip, and take them off and be hard-core the rest of the time.

I've kept the receipt.

Heidi, a serious comment among some... well, other comments...

You don't need to put the superglue on when you install the grips. You'll find that particularly on the throttle, the plastic throttle flange (don't know what you call it - I'm sure someone will berate me as soon as I post for not knowing what it is) has ridges on it that will let you slide the grip on nice and tight and it won't twist without the throttle going with it. When you get the current grips off, you'll know what I mean. The Oxford grips are a TIGHT fit on the busa so no need for the glue. I would suggest that there's no way to get ANYTHING under it if you go for the superglue option. i.e. if you glue it on, they're not coming off.

I fitted a set and luckily I test-fitted them in the right spot before I went the glue because they're hard enough to get off without glue!

BTW, I rode to Phillip Island last year in the driving rain with them on my bike, with motard gloves and my hands were the only thing that wasn't cold! I had wets for everything but my hands and yeah, wet warm hands certainly beats dry cold ones. Then again, dry warm hands is by far the best option, but we do what we can with what we've got... Confused

I've had my heated grips for 6/7 years and they've been the best upgrade for my shitty non-circulating hands.
Wet cold frozen hands with no feeling are the *worst*.

Enjoy them, you probably won't even take them off - I thought I would!

Nothing beats them on a frosty 5am morning. I used to warm my hands on the engine casing (of a different bike) years ago. Pi_freak

I had some Oxford grips fitted the other week - what a great investment. It means I can wear summer-weight gloves (=more feel) when riding at this time of the year. I hate wearing mittens. My last bike, a BMW K1200R, had heated grips, and I have been a convert ever since.

Cheers

I had the wrap around Oxford grips on my bike Heidi. The ones you can put on and take off at your whim.

They saved my skin on the Icicle run

But I also burnt my hands with them. YES, you heard right. Riding all night, even in the blinding cold and rain, they burnt my hands Scary
