Heidi, Mrs Garbo here. Looks like Mark and I are in, depending on his work schedule. We will do all we can to get there as it was a blast last year and look forward to doing it again.

It is 11 Nov this year. I usually don't go (too many weekend warriors), but I've been so busy with work this year I am taking any excuse to be on the bike. Monyx and Dan, we could go as the Canberra contingent and catch up with the Garbos! Should be heaps of fun! No hard riding I suspect, but we can make up for it with DRINKING!

Heidi,
it would be good to finally meet you. At the moment I am in the process of looking for a new bike and was going to put a post on the busa sight asking for opinions on different bikes but I thought better of it knowing the most obvious and unanimous reply will be form everyone on this sight. Not quite the right question for these one eyed guys. Mind you I have ridden Marks busa a few times and absolutely love it, love the way it just sits down and hugs the road, but I am trying to get myself a lighter bike as mine is 250kg wet and I can struggle with the weight in confined areas. Anyway, hope to finally meet you at Thredbo, maybe on a new bike. Linda, Mrs Garbo Regards GARBO

Hey Linda
I'd love to catch up with you too! Even if I can't get the boys to come with me, I could come and play with you and Mark (I'm a little wary of going alone). Talk to me about bikes, I am the Bike Fairy! We can talk about all sorts, I've ridden everything. I know what you mean about the weight, I've dropped each of my busas once and each time they had a full tank. I lack a bit of the upper body strength, and also, the boys can put their feet on the ground (bastards), I'm toes down. Tell me when Mark has his work sorted, and I'll book too. I'll see if I can wrestle up the Canberra Cousins. HEIDI xxx

You better make that 240kg wet with the new exhaust. If you want a lighter feeling bike to ride my 2000mod vfr is much lighter to ride and about 230 full of fuel.

240 to 250 wet, whats 10kg between friends. Sometimes it feels a lot heavier! When I am up and moving it is very easy to manouver, just run into trouble in confined areas. I named my beemer Scotty as in "beem me up Scotty" because when you are out riding your bike you are in a different world. As I said I love the busa and the way it squats down onto the road, but am just unsure about the weight. Had a pillion on the back of the busa the other day and didn't even know he was there unlike the beemer, you can feel the passenger every inch of the way. Whoops, sorry Mark, I forgot I promised I wouldn't tell anyone!!! Spaman, thanks for the tip, what do you feel about the blackbird vs bandit?
Heidi, Mark and I are riding down on Friday with a group of people so if we can hook up somewhere along the road on friday,if that is possible for you, we can ride down to Thredbo together. I have booked 2 chalets in Thredbo but at the moment we are all booked up but if there are any cancellations and you need somewhere to stay give me a call and I'll see what can be done. Will keep in touch. Linda Mrs Garbo Regards GARBO

DUDE! When it comes to drinking, how could I possibly forget you. Keep in mind though, when you drink you get your beer goggles on. You'll need a wingman! Pity Bruce isn't around, you know I'll pick you an ugly one for fun.
Sounds great for a catch up and I'd love to meet anyone on the road who is heading from Sydney. I'll wait and ride up with you all. I'm going to ring around and find some cheap accom. HEIDI xxx

Hi there,
I will be coming down from Sydney with the pillion in a million on the back as she has never been to Australia's highest hill. To all that are going, beware of the they like to raise revenue on this weekend since it is a charity ride. My plan is to take the long route to Thredbo via Cooma - Adaminaby - Cabramurra - Khancoban - Thredbo Village.
Edit: am a definite starter now having just paid my entry. Edited by: monyx at: 30/9/06 11:16 pm |
