OK EVERYONE DO THAT STAND MOD!!!
I am no small guy i way 90 kilos and can bench more than my body,
i was watching my girl sit there and out of no where she started to lean.... i grabbed her ass and slowly she got lower and lower i was sweating to keep her up and then SCRAPPPPE i need a new foot peg and my mirror is cratched....... DO THAT MOD YOU NEED IT....

Just don't park the sucker downhill, if you do, engage 1st gear and lean the bike with weight on the gearbox.

Sidestand Mod
It costs nothing to do this- but may save you a tremendous amount of money- namely preventing a tip over. This modification to the Hayabusa involves just taking a dremmel tool and grinding down the metal to create a small notch that the sidestand sits against while the sidestand is down.

A few millimeters of metal removed changes the angle of the motorcycle while it's at rest. In turn you have less chance of a tip over. When you buy this motorcycle- one of the first recommendations from every Busa owner you'll run into is do the sidestand mod first.

To do this mod- grind a notch into both sides of where the sidestand contacts the bracket so it can swing forward a bit more. The notch only needs to be a 1/16" or 1/8" deep. I shoot a lot of photography while riding and often park the bike anywhere at any time at a moments notice to catch a great shot. No tip-overs yet!

I've always found the Busa sidestand great! Much better than alot of sports bikes.

But I did the mod anyway. (Many years ago)

even strappe at the front my k8 doesnt come aywere near rolling foward or coming off the side stand. perhaps there are sliht diffference in them

hey dan don't believe the k8 theory. mines better than the gen 1 stand but once strapped and very low mine tipped over. lucky for me bike was on grass at the track and we caught it before any damage.

never did the mod myself but learned the hard way within 6 months of having the bike, guess I learnt my lesson well never to repeat the mistake since.

Luckily, I also learnt my lesson on an Italian bike and have never had a problem since it fell on me and my girlfriend at the time.

I'm with Volvi... I learned that lesson many years ago on another bike and the 'stand paranoia' it caused serves me well with the busa. Still might do the mod one day...

I've had my bike 3yrs & have never had the problem.

BUT,
1) If on flat ground, I always drag the bike backwards a little (1")when I first put it on the stand

2) When reverse parking into the kerb, I always put it onto the stand first & then drag it backwards into the kerb.

3) NEVER park on the slightest of forward slope. If it's a forward slope I'll turn around or find somewhere else to park.

Mine rolled off side stand several years ago, but fortunately the day after I fitted Oggy Knobs... damage was limited to very small scratch on engine cover. I did the stand mob very soon there after. Plus I ALWAYS park in first gear.
