How fast do you want to go?

I think I asked you this before.

When I built Quicksliver My goal was to build a bike to run 7.2sec at 200+ mph........

Best yet.. 7.5 at 195 .....Still not there yet.

What do you want horndog?

My goal for the 08/09 season is to crack mid 9s. I cant say for the following year as I have to be realistic and consider budget constraints but in the perfect world I would be chasing 8s with a turbo kit onboard.
Given some of the other Busas at the track here are getting low 9s with stock wheelbase and a 84mm bore kit, I figure I can get close to that if I am smart about the work I do this break. Port cleanup, intake cam in exhaust and high comp pistons are definately on.
Some high performance coatings, stroke crank, oversize exhaust valves, methanol, stand alone ECU are still ideas I am playing with for the future. There is so much info on the web that it can actually make it harder to know which are the better options.
There is no strong performance without a little fanaticism in the performer

Horndog ,you would switch from petrol to alky(methanol ) when you wanted a fuel that provides greater performance potential ,methanol provides this in several ways ,firstly through its specific energy value to get that you plug in the numbers to the following formulae
LHV*MW/AF
LHV= lower heating value MW= mollecular mass of air & AF= air fuel ratio @ stoich ,methanols specific energy is aprox 10% higher than petrol.
secondly by methanols very high octane rating allowing you to use very high static compression ratios greatly increasing the engines thermal efficiency sometimes higher than 17:1 ,this is where methanol greatly increases its power over petrol
thirdly methanols enthalpy of vaporisation (H) aka heat of vaporisation ,methanol when it vaporises has a very large cooling effect ,,this increases the density of the air (more oxygen molecules) for combustion and greatly improves the VE (volumetric effeciency) + improved engine breathing.
fourthly methanol burns faster than petrol ,but also burns cooler and it has a high flamability limit so it can be used very rich without a power drop off so it is mucg more tunable .
so you can see why methanol is a superior fuel to petrol for performance purposes ,yes it does have its negatives ,but if you want beter performance than petrol use alky ,or ramp up the performance to the next level above alky with nitro
unlike leonard I chase pure top speed and my belife is that alky will get me a higher speed than petrol eventually 260+mph

Too finish up with mid 8's with a turbo is fine, you won't need to go the methonal route.

You've got to remember that anything you put on your bike now,eg. big pump, large injectors, Piggyback etc to help you with an all motor in the short term can possibly be used on a small turbo kit up to 350hp, if you choose wisely. But if you decide to go methonal then everything will be wrong eg. a bosch 044 pump is too big on most turbo bikes up to 350hp......but is too small for a methonal setup. Injectors will be too small etc etc.

Thats why I asked how fast do you want to go.....Start from scratch for methonal and go for the big numbers, otherwise racefuel and water injection will get the results you want, with less cost and maintainance.

Remember there's only one guy in the country running quarter mile with a turbo busa on methonal......Coolsmiley so not a lot of info about, be carefull who you take advise from.
Hawkwind is building a landspeed bike and also has methonal experience.
