1st trip to drags

Last night was my first ride at perth motorplex.Welcome Thought I'd go easy for the first pass because i wasn't sure how much traction there was. My take off was very slow but i didn't want to be like every other track virgin and almost flip the bike. reactoin 0.173. After that it head down bum up and head for the finish. 10.440 @ 139.3 1.95 60 foot. For a first run i was pleased with that but knew we were gonna do much better. After a few more passes with 10.41 I got into the groove and pulled out a 10.27 and 10.26, i could go home satisfied because i got into my target time. I kept racing because i really wanted to inprove on my reaction times. Second last pass and I got a 10.178 @ 140.18 mph 1.858 60 foot Trophy still had a crappy reaction of 0.298. I couldnt get the smile off my face. Screwed up the last pass with a 10.589 but got a mention for the best mono down the track.
I'm now hooked, time to take this stock 06 and do a few mods and go back for more. Note to self.. buy leather pants before next race.

Looks like you may be a natural at it.

Sorry no pics of the night, mabe next time. The bike is basically stock i.ve done the airbox mod and installed a TRE, i dropped tyre pressure to 24psi. Still running stock exhaust. I'm looking at e-bay now for lowering straps etc. not sure what to do with the exhaust. I dont have much cash at the moment.

How heavy are you in your leathers?doing a 1.85 60 ft at 140mph and 10.1 tells me your either light or your bike makes good torque. For a stock height and piped bike only the light blokes go sub 10.3.First night out to do those numbers is about 12 months worth of practice ahead of the norm.Awesome effort, just be prepared to go slower some nights and faster other nights. The faster you get the more difficult it gets to unlock the code for more speed, but satisfying when you make a breakthrough.nice coloured bike.

96kg in full gear. I dont consider myself light. I did have a full tank of fuel. wasnt sure how much I,d need. I'll go with 1/4 to 1/3 next time.
I've been talking to a few other people here and they say that on wednesday meets the start line is moved so the track is a meter longer and its not prepared like normal weekend meets so i could get better times. But i understand your point. I'll try not to get frustrated on those nights.

well done mark. as per our chat today the air is pretty good at the moment over here but like spaman said sometimes you have a great night and sometimes not so good. track must have been good as i don't have a lot of joy on our wednesday night tracks. concentrate on 1 thing at a time and for now work on the 60ft and have fun. reaction times will improve and it thing becomes a consistency thing. glad to see another bike like my old one at the track.

your about 3kg heavier than me.Your doing real good.I always ran with a full tank at stock height, lack of wheelies allowed me to drop from 10.0,s stock height to 9.5,s lowered.Im still learning though, datalogging shows the lies you tell yourself.Lol3prepared track, whats that.lol At wsid we prepare it ourselves by all the wheelspin for the first 2-3 passes laying rubber down.I think the track has some prep left in it about 3 times a year for a wed night meeting, but whaddya do it hooks you, and you just grin and bear it.
