False Neutral - 5th & 6th

Only had the K8 a few days now & I'll have the 1000 k's up by tomorrow. A couple of angle gears but I know each time it was a poxy shift on my part. I've done 10's of thousands of K's on gen 1 busa's & I'll always think they are fantastic. But with just under 1000 k's now on the K8 I have to admit I love the whole package better than the gen 1's. This bike rocks just fine. As for the gear box - it is very smooth in my mind. The brakes kick ass & I haven't worked out just why yet but the bike tips in very well in the twisties. Better in my mind that the gen 1's. I do like riding this bike. Just did Bribie Is to Hervey Bay & back yesterday & today. Lets just say the world gets smaller on these bikes. The trip didn't take to long at all. Don't think I should post my times..................

Hi Dude

I now have about 2000 km on the clock of my new Busa and I simply love it.

The engine is simply superb, its strong it howls, growls and snorts depending how you ride it. I love the brakes which after seating in works well.

Barring the occasional 1st gear not going in the first time at the robot the gearbox is fine.

I agree with you that she turns in very well effort and really sits in a corner. Can't understand it either as per specs there is no change between the Busa 1 and 2?

Pine

Well they handle better because they have lighter wheels, improved suspension and a better steering damper, along with the new BT015 tyres that stick like glue.

I've noticed that my new one is very simillar in handling to a BMW K1200S.

I've also had the resistance going into first gear at the lights and I found that if I released and reengaged the clutch it snicks back in straight away.

Im not one of those "Militec" guys. But am wondering if for all you Gen2 guys seeing you all started off with a brand new bike, would you be considering any of those kind of additives for longer lasting engine protection?

Not sure on that Volvi I was thinking about it but if your bedding it in don't you need a bit of friction to bed it in.

Ps only 300 kms on mine so far fells like it has the same 5&6 issues of the 99, it has that funny double gear type change, a couple of time when lazy on the changes it has not gone into gear, but to early to say 100%

But Wow what a bike Trophy
We are calling them the flying carpet over here Pi_thumbsup

Hi Guys, Been having the problem shifting into 5th & 6th with it not engaging and showing blank on the gauge, this has been getting more noticable & frequent since the first 1000km service and happens only when the bike is hot after 1/2 to 1 hours riding, and it clunks/jumps when engaging 1st gear.
Had it in for it's 6000km service last Sat, shop says they've never heard of this before and adjusted the selector rod. Rang the shop on the way home (singleton) cause it started missing the 3rd to 4th change. NEVER had any of these issues with my old 2000 busa.
Only ever ran Motul 5100 ester 10w50 4T and it ran sweet as.
Wondering if this could be an oil issue from possibly straight synth oil being used at last 2 oil changes, will find out what oil was used for last 2 services.

Yep 98% of car oil is friction modified don't use it in a bike.

Had a great ride yesterday. Caboolture - Beerwah - Peachester - Woodford - Kilcoy - Somerset Dam - Esk (Lunch in the Pub 1 1/2 hrs) - Fernvale - Mt Glorious - Samford - Strathpine - Caboolture. Could have done the Mt Mee gig on the way home but I had some chores to do. Was a great day out. The K8 busa is a step up on the Gen 1's for sure. I was not expecting a lot more but you do get it. Not one missed gear or difficult shift. Happy with G/box for now. Got the 1000 km up so off for the 1st service now. I'll see how the box goes after this has been completed.

Mine has 3'500k on it now (got the 2ND Orange /Black in NSW) and i have noticed the 1st to (two second thats how long it take's me hehe) shift can be a bit vauge at time's..And have found a few false nothing's along the way even in the higher gear's(Not as high as 5th and 6th though)...

But once i i fine tuned the link between the gear lever and the box to my slow old left foot it's all good now....Solid as a rock....

This happened regularly at speed between 5th and 6th; all the signs as in post 1. Done just less than a 1000k's so expect big improvement. Spoke to the spannermen at first service and they suggested a firm change with no clutch - works okay. I'm going to hard cap my gear change boot to reduce this problem further. It seems to happen more with hard acceleration from 4-5-6th gear when blasting pass slower bikes.

Never any problems with 5-6 shift, the only problem i have is that i usually find myself riding around in 5th as previous bike had no 6th gear and bike cruises nicely at 150kph at 5000rpm down the highway
