Toy Runs

It's coming up to Ho!Ho! time of year again. 2 weeks to the toy runs up this way.
Gold Coast Sat Dec 1st. Tweed City S/centre, South Tweed to Broadbeach Mall.
Brisbane Sunday Dec 2nd. Nudgee College, Boondall to Wynnum.

I'm likely to be at both with my girls (teaching them some community spirit). If anyone else is planning to get along and make a Busa representation it would look good.

A couple of the Newcastle members are gonna meet at the new TWOWHEELSUPERSTORE at 9am before chugging off to Sandgate markets for the run.

What time does the Gold Coast Toy Run start? It seems no one updates the "official toy run" site.

Kicks off at Tweed City S/C South Tweed at 11.30am DST (10.30Qld). Finishes in the Broadbeach Mall at 11.30EST. I get there about 10.30DST to get plenty of time to register and watch other bikes arrive.

The toy run in Newie today was the BIGGEST I have ever seen. Reports from 2 years ago totalled 7,000 and I am guessing that there were an extra couple of thousand out for it today. We will hear the report on the news tonight but it was a lovely day and the crowd was enormous.
Thanks again to everyone who made the effort.

Ray, did you get any rain? Everywhere I was today (Maitland, Terrace, Medowie) we had down pours every 30 minutes to an hour!

No mate the showers followed you and not us thankfully.
I even did a loop of Lake Macquarie after the run and stayed dry all the way home.

Great runs on the Gold Coast and in Brissy this weekend.
Gold Coast run on Saturday was not quite as big as last year but I'm guessing at 800-1,000 bikes. No rain, infact quite hot. So hot in fact that my poor girl ran into the red most of the way and boiled over just near the end. To add insult ot injury, a dead battery meant I had to find a hill to roll start every time we came to a stop. It didn't take away from the sprit of the event for my daughter (Aimee) and I though. Nice to meet with Shayne (ausdragbike) there and we gave the Salvo's some well deserved support. I hope you've had some sleep since then Shayne.
Brissy on Sunday was a much bigger turnout (to be expected). Don't know the actual numbers but the line stretched quite a lot of km's. Fabulous support from the City of Brisbane and the Brissy Police who contributed to making the whole run work smoothly. Great to meet with tony nitrous and mechanx on this run. Again no rain although the clouds did look threatening most of the time and we had riden along some damp roads on the way to and from the event (just enough to make the underside all grubby and needing a clean & polish again, grrr). The new battery and a few hours of TLC on Saturday night paid off as the bike ran as good as ever. My other daughter (Samantha) and I really enjoyed the day meeting and talking with a number of people about there ride's, giving in the spirit of the day and generally having a lot of fun.

The toy runs are a part of life for many of the bikers in OZ.

It seems the crowd looked bigger than it was in Newie with the official estimate back at about the 5000 mark according to the news reports. Maybe they overestimated in previous years. Doesn't matter though its still a great event to be a part of.
