Hi there,
Lets remember that when interest rates were 18% mortgages were a lot smaller than they are now.
I reckon that Julia Gillard is most probably wearing the pants in the relationship anyway.

Crawl back under our rocks you reckon Hawky, no worries mate, after you...
Tell you what matey, I've got more trade unionists in my family tree than a May Day solidarity march...
My gg gfathers on both sides were in the Stone Masons Union & the Coachmakers Union. They were the blokes who won the 40 hour week fight (something worth fighting for) My Great Uncle was President of the ACTU in the 1800's. I was a union delegate myself over 3 decades ago & won quite a few battles with managememt over unsafe work practices.
But that was then & this is now & things have changed. The union movement today only represents a small minority of the workforce ( 17% from memory) and they lost me when the building industry was held to ransom by questionable negotiating tactics like run throughs, concrete pours, thuggery & skullduggery. Maybe you could say that the ends justified the means, but I beg to differ on that score. Sure, over the past 11 or so years they pulled their heads in a bit.........but gee, I wonder why
Screw all that bullshit....maybe that's the reason no one wants to join any more

They're gonna re instate unfair dismissal laws so useless bludgers can get away with murder then sue the boss for unfair dismissal when they finally use up their 3 strikes. The usual payout was around $30,000 & I believe "once was a commie" was actively involved in prosecuting such cases in a previous role....
Now we got wall to wall red raggers....with the commo factories (schools & uni's) churning new ones out by the hour...
Socialists never learn....................Winston Churchill lead the poms & defeated Hitler & what was his reward ?
The ungrateful deluded slobs voted him out the first opportunity they got
Well Rev you want to make it personal OK with me , and there I was thinking you were acting like another braindead, socially engineered automaton ,regurgitating fascist dogma for your masters , but no I was wrong ,my appologies ,it appears from your volunteered confession you are far more sinister ,if you and your ilk continue to spread the filth quoted above I will continue to take you to task , again it is best to leave your political comments at home and not air them publically ,otherwise be prepaired for a

Nice to see you back on a regular basis Rev. You've been missed. Ready to make space in the shed for a K8? It'd look good next to the '99 and the BM.
There...managed all that without one political comment. I guess that means this post is a hi-jack.
Oops. Sorry.
Ah dear, politics even manage to probe their greasy thumb into the 'Busa website. So, I shall give my opinionated 2 bobs worth.
There's know doubt that Howard was in too long. He made some cocky decisions that ultimately brought about his demise, thus proving, the beauty of democracy.
In an ideal world it would be great to have a "leader" that was in for a term longer than 3 years. This would encourage them to make decisions & choices that were relevant to our children, not just concerned with re-election in a short term. Thus, short term economics would not be the driving force behind the choices they made. Unfortunately, nearly all people are, well, greedy, hence this would end up in what we know as a dictatorship.
Interest rates are not controlled by the Australian government but, by the Reserve/World banks.
As for being concerned with the unions running this fine continent of ours under a labor government, well shouldn't we be looking at diverting ourselves from relying solely on building stuff and being a quarry for the world? It seems to me that there is a few unions that have done a damn good job of running this country under the Coward government. With one union group, (& arguably the most powerful) coming under the umbrella of "Mining Forestry & Energy" it seems that we have opened the doors for a few to have a lot of power. It also seems that we have bugger all chance of returning ourselves to the world leader in renewable energy r & d and manufacture. Energy doesn't, shouldn't & can no longer be derived solely upon mining or forestry.
I voted Green, if for nothing else but, to keep the bastards honest & challenge their thinking.
Let's hope Dudd brings in autobahn speed limits for our freeways so that I don't get busted again for doing a safe 120km/h in the middle of the night on the Eastern Freeway, (on my Yamaha Tenere chooky just to rub salt into the wounds).
Anyone got a step ladder so I can get down from my high horse?
One last thing, prefer the front end of the Gen 1 Busa, prefer the gorgeous (Vespa-ish aka European), arse on the K8, would love to get a load of that crazy front end lift on the Gen 2 that everyone's "complaining" about. But, at the end of the day, you cant beat the (Copper) original, eh Volvi.

G'day Astro..where you been
Me on a K8
Who knows.............one day maybe....I very rarely buy anything new....long standing fiscal policy of mine The only bikes I've bought new in the past 40 odd years were my Kawa 750 turbo & the old Vmax.
Buying anything new nowadays & expecting fair warranty backup is like swimmimg in a lap pool, you never get anywhere My mate's new megabuck LCD telly blew up & they are gonna fix it (screen buggered) no replacement policy .

Can I put my bit in.........
I'm a trady. Over the years I've been a member of the BLF, AMWU, CFMEU.
I was ripped off by the BLF. I was owed unpaid BUSS & BERT payments from an employer. They investigated & I got nothing. I investigated myself & found that the BLF organizer was a mate of my old boss. Guess what, my issue disappeared.
The AMWU were pretty weak & just took money. Didn't really do much for the members.
The CFMEU were too wrapped up in trying to bring down businesses.
As a trady I worked my up to supervision & mgmt level. 4yrs ago I was the site mgr on a multi-level apartment building in Brisbane. The local BLF organiser came to the site & literally stood in my face screaming at me calling me low life scum & telling me that he was actually the one who would dictate to the mgmt of the site. This guy had absolutely no respect for anyone. During the project, even his own site delegate would go around & appologise to everyone for the organisers actions while on site. In the end even his own members told him not to come back. This organiser is still an active organiser for the BLF in Qld.
That's just a couple of issues among many that I have personally been involved with in the past.
These are the type of old school bullies & stand-over people that need to be removed. The unions need to move with the times. All employers I've worked for a more than happy to pay all required entitlements. I've actually found that it's the attitude of the union organiser towards the company that often clouds the willingness of the employer to do the "right" thing.
So, getting back to the political thing. If labor are going to bring that type of action back in a bigger, stronger way, then I really think we are in trouble.
