Is that in with Graeme Boyd?
Wife was driving home from work (Lambton) today and passed a very loaded truck heading to Suzuki. I don't suppose my Busa will be on it yet though :( He did say he was getting a bunch of Gixxer 1000 in soon though.

Now that she's just about run in, it should be about time to swing over to synthetic oil!

Ray, I'm interested in knowing if they end up changing any shims. My bikes are low mileage in comparison to yours and never needed any replaced. With high mileage however, issues like valve seat recession may factor in.

I had half of them replaced @ 25,000 Busgo - I am planning the same b'day for a 60,000km service - major checking & re-checking coz I thrash it all the time :) well.... what I think is thrashing it - chances are the engine probly looks new inside

Can't say I thrash mine, only wind it out 1 to 4th gears at the drags. I do change oil and filter religously at the end of each month and checked shims at about 28k and all well within spec!

I visited the mechanic this morning and added a front fork oil change to the list as well.
They are also going to do a yosh box adjustment on the fueling of +1% in the mid range to see if it helps on the mid range hesitation at high altitude.

nice - let us know how she goes - btw - are you getting a comp test to see how ring wear might be going?
Forks are something I'll be doing myself soon as well :/ let a few things go as of late

I decided to remove the fork oil change from the list. It was a major job and not enough time for all the work.
Nothing wrong with the front forks anyway, they still work great and no sign of any reduction in performance.
I have no reason to think that a compression test is necessary either but they may do it as part of the major service.

I got the bike back this afternoon.
It appears to be running quite well in the brief time I have had to test.
I notice a little oil on the pipe headers and hope that this is just a bit of spill and not a leak from the tappet cover area. They fitted a new gasket after checking the shims.
The shims all were still within factory spec after 112,000 klms. No adjustment necessary, yet again.
The new clutch plates make it much lighter to use and the take up is noticably quicker.
I cleaned and flushed the fuel tank myself before taking the bike in but they removed, cleaned and refitted all the injectors and checked the timing position sensor.
They also drained and refilled the coolant. I think it may be a little low, so will top it up after a good ride if necessary.
Overall I am impressed by the improved response and the lightness of the controls.
Must keep on eye on that oil around the header pipes. That is my only concern.
All up cost was a bit under $800.

Things looked good for a while - but not so good now.
The bike sprung an oil leak or two after riding it home and it is now back in the workshop getting sorted. Looks like both the tappet cover gasket and the clutch housing gasket are both not seated properly. They were new ones fitted but will have to be pulled out and reseated. Not good news for an $800 service. I will keep you posted on the outcome.
