Hmm... this has got potential!

.... and a Kanji symbol on either side that says "Bite Me!"... or "Eat My Sushi" or "Girls bits are way cool" - in Japanese of course.

I can see it now!

Time to resurrect this thread. We're on the countdown to a track day, so Bruce and I, assisted by the largely decorative Tycho, have been working on the mighty RGV. It is going to be beautiful, and I'm learning a LOT!

Tycho and I have had a chat, we've decided this is a ROCKSTAR effort, but on reflection we decided Bruce was probably the rockstar and we are the backup singers.

The RGV all taped up with the design ready to go. We've taken photos so we know where to put the tape next time, I just don't COMPLETELY remember what colour goes where.......

Bruce and Tycho trying to get the RGV started. We have two or three weeks before the trackday, HEAPS of time to sort the actual running.

The tank after bogging, sanding, highfill undercoat one, sanding bogging, highfill undercoat TWO and more bloody bogging and sanding. In the shower that night I couldn't work out why everything felt 'funny'. Turns out now would be a PERFECT time to do a burglery, we have no fingerprints.

The high-tech spray booth. Unfotunately the weather was shit all weekend, it rained constantly, only getting harder every time the spray gun came out. Damn effective.

The fairings and tank after two sets of undercoat (with associated bogging, sanding, bogging, sanding and bogging) and a guide coat. We put them there because we could watch tv, drink AND admire our handy work. I f*&^ing LOVE boy houses! There should be more bike stuff inside and less dollies.

Tycho modelling the latest in side panels

and tummies

Bruce putting the first coat of the two-pac black.

Front guard ready to go! What a job. Look how SHINY they are!

The wheels. They were a bit banged up before we started to Bruce bogged and sanded them until he was nearly distracted. Seems it was worth it, they turned out beautifully. They will be silver at the end, but I'm still tempted to keep them like this.

This is the final version of the tank. Smooth and shiny, it is a far cry from the banged up, dented, crappy thing we started with.

More photos next week, we are getting to the pointy end of the game. Bruce is very confident we can get this done, Tycho and I are prepared to follow along behind handing out tools. It is a hell of a learning curve for me (not for Tycho, he already knew all of this), it is very exciting. the main problem is the bike is going to look so spectacular, people are going to assume I can ride. Hope I don't let the bike down!

That'd be great Tex, you know I'll follow you anywhere! Shall we see if we can make them jump?

Here is the latest on how the tracky is going.

Black coat DONE.

The TRON bike. I wanted to leave her like this, but Bruce assured me it would get better. Black was my new colour and I decided to stop here.

Sticker placement.

Purple coat. After this I decided we should stop, the purple is beautiful.

Silver coat, turns out it is mettalic and I decided it was my favourite colour and we should stop.

Silver bits.

Side panel masked for silver coat.

Fairings on the pool table.

Made it a bit tricky to play pool, but we managed. Look at the silver wheels!

And bugger me if there wasn't water in Lake George on the way home!

Turns out pretty much everyone stopped for a photo, we grab our excitement where we can in Canberra.

She isn't finished, but she's getting close. The trackday next week while be an early viewing, but she'll be missing stickers and clear coat. In the meantime, Leonard is working his magic. He's checking to make sure a carpenter and a librarian haven't stuffed the bike up TOO MUCH! More to come.

Pity the purple doesnt show up in the photo's.

The paint is 2 pack so will not be glossy until the clear coat is applied.

If Leonard has been playing with it you'd better hang on REAL tight 1st time out.
