Annual Hayabusa Convention?
#31
Volvi, no sorry mate I dont agree with having the get together between Melbourne and Sydney.
The Sydney riders have demonstrated their ability to organize a good event with their Oxley run and I think they would be more than capable of organizing a National get together somewhere in a 200 klm radius of Sydney where there are some fantastic roads. With a lot of help from members everywhere of course.
As stated before I would be more than happy to help out even if it meant a trip to Sydney but I draw the line at Jindabyne.
Regards
Chopper

Chopper I hear you, but my only considerations are not what may be good for you, me, Rod or which-ever individual but for a location where the most attendees will be encouraged to come too. Not to mention if we manage to get Suzuki's involvement and maybe even some financial input, that they would have a say as to which location and depending if its from NSW or VIC office may also be reflected in the final location.

I am partial to Jindabyne not out of personal considerations of comfort or otherwise but having once attended a bike convention there I found it to be an excellent choice not just the facility and lakeside scenery but some wonderous roads going up to Mount Kosiosko (if Im not mistaken) and around the area. I grant you that NSW team have been better at putting meets together but there are other factors too that need be taken into consideration and no doubt where ever the event may take place theyre input will be most valuable.

If Suzuki will come to the party, and I have already formally made such a request - then perhaps the timing of the event (as I have suggested to them) may coincide with the release of they're new range of models for 2005, at which convention they may first be released to the public for view and or trials. Needless to say then the event would more likely take place in the 4th quarter of the year. But of course that all depends on they're input or lack off. So until that matter becomes clear, its all still open for debate.

Trusting that this may meet with all members satisfaction.

Here ,here, and well put Volvi. If we are going to do this thing, might as well do it right.Regardless of where and when,i will make the utmost attempt to attend this thing.Just think the very first annual (maybe?),Australian busa club ralley,we could be part of history,if we are to get backing from Suzuki,we must show a positive response to this exercise.

The roads to Jindabyne from Victoria's side of the border are just fabulous. Few cops and the 25 to 45 kay corners will gobble up any thought you had of decent tyre wear. We rode down via Mt Glorious to the Supers from Canberra last year and ended up having a great time in the kosciouszko (sp??) national forests.. For Sydney riders there are enough approaches to give great cornering bullshit stories about.

A couple of guys have already mentioned it....
ALICE SPRINGS.....in about 12 mths time.

Gives everyone plenty of time to:-
*plan hols
*save up the pesos
*sell off the pets & kids..etc

The thought of 60+ Busas warping up the UNRESTRICTED highway at 280...290...300...would not only be the height of absolute exhilaration but,no doubt, would also attract plenty of attention/coverage from bike mags both nationally and internationally.
(..and maybe a certain manufacturer as well!!)

IF WE`RE GONNA DO IT...LETZ MAKE IT BIG!!!

Perhaps a POLL/VOTE re location might help things along:

#1 preference....Alice
#2 preference....Snowy

Whatever`s decided...I`M IN !!

just my lil input
cheers.....Franko

Havent had a reply yet from Suzuki, I'll give them till the end of the month before I follow up with a phone call. Will update all as soon as I can. Either way I reckon we'd be looking at around Oct/Nov '04 for a date. Ive not been to Alice either but again if Suzuki will participate, I'd have to get theyre reactions first to any location. Needless to say if they only wanna come up with supplying stickers, all possibilities will be open.
