ie:Your Vmax 206bhp=$42,000
ie :My gen 2 Busa(stock)190bhp=$17,000 no comparison mate!!!!!!
there are no demos available......is that correct Tom?????where you able to test ride before you purchased from your stealership?????? if so,where and who please????

Hi Agian 1300hayabusa

Some people have no problems buying a 500K car as a weekender and others would rather buy a few houses. Some people buy their partners expensive gifts that the rest of us would think excessive. There are alot of Dukes, MV's etc out there that can run rings around both the Busa and the Vmax. The 1198 for example (and there are plenty of them out there). Yes it is an expensive bike but they handle better than ours ever will. Your happy with your Busa so all power to you (this is the Busa site after all). For 17K I agree, the Busa is King. No question. And if money is your primary concern then sure, you're very sensible to come to your conclusion. But for me, the Busa was not the right bike and I was happy to pay the extra for something unique, made in limited numbers. Apples V apples? not quite. As you know these are very different bikes and really only end up being compared because of the hp outputs but consider the the torque figures and power delivery from a V4 as opposed to an inline4. Quite different characteristics and for me it is the pull of that V4 that keeps me comming back for more. I am happy that you like your bike and I am not trying to shoot the Busa down. It is a cracker of a bike. Just not on the same level for me.

As for a test ride, you are correct in that it will be difficult to get a ride. The best bet would be to find a dealer with a used one but even that will be an up-hill battle. 150 were brought into Aus/NZ with 28 having been bin'ed, 5 remaining for sale and with two of them in my shed, your prospects are quite limited. It is a unique experience and that is one of the things that you pay for. And no, I bought the bike without a test ride. It was the only way to order one from Yamaha. But like I said, each to their own.

Hi Stuntrider666,

Awesome. You enjoy that mighty BusaTrophy

Great article Toecutter, you are not afraid to improve on a formidable package. They are a powerhouse donk with a lot of torque thats for sure, dropping clutch at 2500 and then pinning it is evidence of that. Busa standard will always be behind in that area because it is giving away 340cc in capacity for a start and Vmax fuelling gives no thought to any economy. Wish they weren't made by Yamaha Pi_freak, if I ever got my hands on one would respray it and get away from the bland gunmetal grey crowd..Biker

Hi Rev,

You mean you haven't got one yet Coolsmiley
It was a great weekend at the MotoGP. Taking out the prize was just the icing on the cake!
Looking forward to our next ride mate. Just let me know.

Hi alpal,

I know what you're saying about Yamaha. This is the first one I have owned (apart from an old tt250 years ago). I had always been a Honda/Suzuki rider with little regard for the blue camp. Perhaps it's because it is their flagship bike or the attention to detail, but I am very happy with it. And I have removed all of those Yamaha fork badges apart from one very small one. Doesn't matter where I park it, someone always says..."what the f#!k is that!?" Gives me a laugh :-)

fuel tank!

Yup, bought the M3 drove it, got bored with it and sold it. Too many wheels. Amazing car. Was fun to drive one around Philip Island.... Insane, but 25 odd years on bikes.... turns out I'm a biker after all. Pi_tongue
The fuel tank on the Vmax?? Yes, it is far too small. If I take it easy I can get about 170klms. If I cut loose, I'll be lucky to see 130klms. But hey, you can't get that sort of Horsepower without a petrol sacrifice to the God of Grunt!! Also it is good to stop every once and a while to put your arms back into their sockets. There is a fellow in Germany who has made a stainless tank with 21L (standard 15L which you can see in the pics below now that the rear subframe has been removed) so we will see when tha becomes available. Thanks for your kind coments.

Was your m3 auto or manual?!

How on earth did you get bored of it!!!?

Manual. Like I said, too many wheels. Just didn't get the same feeling as I do when I'm on a powerful bike.

Thanks Bruce. I plan to stick around and give another perspective on things. Besides, it wouldn't be the Busa club if there wasn't someone pointing out that there is no substitute for V4 power! (Long standing members will understand)

Nice to be back.

Welcome back Tom.
Plenty of pics but none I can see of your machine.
I have seen it in the flesh and it is an amazing looking bike.
I'm sure others are curious.
Don't be shy.

I Totally love it!
I've ridden the Rocket 3 and it made the busa feel like a gutless pimple after. . . but it is butt ugly.
The V-Max must have you twisting the thottle and grinning like a maniac
