We arrive in Thredbo on the Friday afternoon and usually eat at the pub. On Saturday, we get breakfast at the Thredbo hotel then we go and check out the test rides....usually book in for a couple Coolsmiley. Lunch in Jindyabyne and back for the mass ride. Saturday dinner at either the pub or pizza joint, hang out for the concert. Sunday leave about 9-10am and a leisurely ride home. We take the Monday off work to recouperate.

Glad to hear that Thredbo is having such a bumper Winter season, but the snow should be gone by the time of this event in November Lol3 although we have had snow on the side of the road going to Charlottes Pass and snow at Friday Flat.

last year we had a brilliant ride to the top of charlottes pass dry all the way, took pix of the bikes with a chunk of ice.faily cold but worth the ride.

The weather is unpredictable. We leave Western Sydney at about 6am on the Friday, so warm clothing/thermals, and neck warmers are a good idea. It generally gets a bit cooler the closer you get Cooma, then it's a lotto draw after that.

Even if you don't wear the thermals and neck warmer when riding there, they are not big items that will take alot of spce in your bag, just in case you need them over the weekend or when riding home.

Hi All

As a rep for the MCC, I just received an email from another delegate regarding accomodation for the Snowy Ride. Below is a copy.

Hi everyone.

Just to let you know, Alpine World is now in the hands of an Administrator. I have recently had dealings with them whereby the property I had leased out for the Snowy Ride was taken away from them by the owner and put in the hands of another agent. The other agent agreed for Alpine World to continue with the booking on his behalf, but only if we agreed to accept an increase in fees of 56%, to which we naturally declined. It was only when I requested a refund of monies paid that I was advised about the Administrator.

Apparently this could affect a lot of Snowy Ride people that have just recently been approached to pay up the balance of the funds as I believe they only had 4 weeks to trade out of trouble or become insolvent. If they become insolvent, then all monies paid to them will be in jeopardy.

I initially paid $100 deposit, but was forced to pay more up to 50% in order to retain and secure the property, so ended up paying $278 in total. I am only just glad that I found out now before we outlayed any more money. I have now been placed on a list with all the other creditors.

We are still going and have booked different accomodation as I believe this is a really great cause, but it disheartens me to know that some people will be scarred by this and not come back next year.

Anyway, pass this information onto any forums you have so the more people know the better. Forewarned is forearmed

For those attending, please check that your accomodation is ok.

I got the same email through the MRA, it sounds legit. Cheeky (and others), I'd suggest you ring your accomodation to confirm both the deposit you have paid and the cost. Don't tell them why, it would be normal for you to be doing this prior to arriving. You'll find out soon enough if they are Alpine World.

Exactly what I was going to say, thanks Heidi.

Kathy, you and the 1hotbusa are welcome to share may cabin in Jindabyne if there is room.
I will check with the resort today and see what the cabin sleeping arrangements are and let you know.
If there is room, you are in and don't give it a second thought.

Thanks for the offer Ray Clap, but 1hot and I have already booked and paid for the Thredbo Alpine Resort Hotel.....short stroll from the test rides and just across the road from the Saturday evening concert.
Hey all

Just received another email (copy below) regarding Snowy Ride accommodation. These emails are from a fellow rider, who is sharing her experience so that others can be well informed and aware.

It affects everyone who has booked with Alpine World and they manage quite a lot of properties in both Thredbo and Jindabyne. Unfortunately I could NOT turn a blind eye for any cause, and could not just ignore it. People need to be aware that their accomodation is in jeopardy.

The Administrator is now also aware of the Snowy Ride and the Walter Foundation is aware of Alpine World's plight. The agent, as you can imagine, was not telling anyone, but I already knew this, as I had been informed by someone else, but did not let everyone know because it was not resolved. I had been dealing with the agent via both email and phone regarding the issue, and had given them ample opportunity, but it was not until I asked for my money back that they advised me in writing that an administrator had been appointed and I now had to be on a list of creditors in order to get my money back.

The administrator also advised that it was public knowledge and he is well aware that I was advising other snowy riders of what is happening. The agent did offer me alternative accommodation, but of a lesser standard to which I declined.

Late this afternoon I spoke with the Administrator again, and apparently because the new agent has now taken the property away from Alpine World, my funds have been made available for me and will be refunded as it was in a holding account to transfer to the new agent. This was contrary to the email I received from the agent.

I urge all those attending to please check their accommodation, as I would hate to see others get duped.

Sorry Kathy, in my rush to read before work yesterday, I misunderstood and thought you needed a place to stay.

My offer is open to anyone heading to Jindy for the ride.
My cabin has a double bed and 3 bunks.
I claim the double but anyone who would like to use a bunk and share a portion of costs is welcome.
