I rode both the '08 Busa and the Night Rod today. I liked the riding position of the Hardley, but, one ride on the '08 and I'm thinking "why the f*** would you consider handing over $30k for the Rod when you have the beauty and feel of the Busa. Blinding speed at the top end,but taking into consideration what I've done to the Black and Grey performance wise, bugger all separates the new with the Busa I'm on. For an 18month old bike with 27k on the clock they said I would be embarrassed at the change over they would offer me. Looks like the black and grey stays.

Good weather, good woman, good road, good bike, good-bye!!
just what i thought thanks madmax you have hit the nail on the head the 08 has killed us i payed 15k for my bike 6 months ago they wanted to give me 9k today when asked (wtf are you smoking) why that much there reply was 08 is out new look, bigger engine, better everything, the old style isnt what people want now. and yes dan i love my bike nothing better than a long ride to get what ever crap thats in my life out and become normal again but at some stage when you do want to get rid of your bike you want to know your getting a far deal not just humped in the back side before i bought my busa i googled everything about them and other bikes for to see what reliability they had and resale value thats why i bought the big girl but 6 months on always cared for like a baby my bike is worth shit.
What about busgos bike man that is a nice machine and its his pride and joy.
I would offer the moon for it if i was looking to buy one but what would a dealer offer, a price thats no where near in the ball park as some of us would that know art and class when we see it. But at the end of the day i want that dash for mine
new 08, all new front stoppers, same master cylinder ,more weight ,huge pipes. My 03 steel brake lines,43 tooth rear cog. Most of my riding ,dorrigo and tighter. 03 is good 4 me
Yer I'm still not impressed with what they've done. I know with the super tight emission laws the exhaust would be a chunker but the weight going up is just unacceptable. Suzuki could have used a host of parts from the GSXR1000 to drop the beasts weight down but no?
I mean, with the engine, I thought they were lazy but obviously its pretty sweet, but I still reckon it looks like dogshit compared to the Gen 1 & could be lighter.
It was already madly aerodynamic, what were those engineers thinking!!

hahaha i find it funny we all waited and waited and whinged the "new" model hadnt come out that each year all we got was Bold new colours. now its out it has more power, it has better brakes and now we whinge about it hahaha oh well all i can say is im glad i made the upgrade from the gen1 to the gen2 and i like the look so i guess each to there own. one thing i will say in terms of resale value. do we want to run the same model for 20 years so we can keep our resale up or do we want to advance with the times? im not saying that its not a shitty deal for you guys who have lost money on your bikes but we have had it good since 99 in terms of resale etc. what if you had bought an R1 or gsxr1000 bascially new/redesigned model every couple years.
Regards
Dan
I think what I find kinda strange though is that with a bike like the GSXR1000, every year it has major upgrades, tweaks etc....BUT.. you wouldn't expect to lose huge amounts in value like the older busa's seem to be right now.
My question is why the different standard. Every year, we hear "all new" Gsxr1000 or Zx10r...etc etc. But for once! the busa has something new done to it & suddenly the earlier models are a waste of space?????
Double standards in my opinion. I reckon there may be an influx of people picking up earlier models and turboing them if the prices go too low.

hell yeah ill be looking for an older model in about 12 months. i think you wil find that prices might creep back up a little after the initial "OOHH a new model came out" buzz has gone down.

Until a few months ago there was little different with the various year Hayabusa's, which in turn has given very good resale across the board.
Unfortunately for the same reasons they have been disadvantaged with the lower resale now that the Gen 2 has been released.
Look at a 2000 GSXR1000 and what percentage of initial purchase price the sellers are getting, the Gen 1 Busa's has levelled to similar percentages.
They may recover after the hype but not counting on it.

Hi Guys,
I reckon, this is just a phase - it will pass out. hold on to your beloved Busa's they will again regain the %age value what they have lost because of this Hyped launch.
Frankly I dont think 70% of us have even use the full potential of our bikes - I will wait another year or two before I run for the new Busa.
I fear that the updates will follow pretty quickly as the competation is already pushing it.
I love my first generation Busa and it will be with me for a long time.
I bought my 07 Busa new a few months ago because it had 8 years of development, any bugs had been ironed out and there is heaps of gear around for them. Also i got it at a pretty good price i think. For a little more that the cost of a 08 Busa my Busa can have nearly twice the HP of a 08. Im more than happy with the decision i made.
xxxdamoxxx Wrote:ok guys! with the new k8 out, going through oz like a hot curry dinner. will this affect the value of our bikes in a way that buyers or dealers will want to give us peanuts for anything under the k8 model e.g old look, smaller engine, bla bla bla.
And last of all will most of the parts from the k8 fit our bikes so we can up grade just a little because all i want for my bike is the new dash. that is farking sexy shit
i reakon, that any bike upto the 2007, other than the 99 will suffer value wise in the long run :)
im hanging onto my 99
Jes
Desirable bikes will always hold their value. Look at the Yamaha 1200 Vmax. The first came out in I think in 1985 http://www.vmaxoutlaw.com/main.html and they still pull $8500 here http://www.bikepoint.com.au/DesktopDefau...ID=2841150&TabID=3424&Alias=Bikepointau
and the 2008 Vmax will be out next year with 210 hp.
The GEN 1 Busa is and will always be a desirable bike so I cannot see the price of the GEN 1 dropping ever dropping to much more than than what they have now.

+1 on Shayne's comments. I bought my 07 for a bargain price (I was told there's no way that I was legit on the price when I posted it here) and am really happy with it. Why would I want to pay a stackload more cash for the pleasure of a new dashboard (which I do really like) and more power? I can pick up a full Turbo kit from GlenTC or the guys in Sydney and still come under the cost of a new 'busa. I love my bike and it still fits the reason that I bought it.
$15K ride away for a 2007 at A1 in Brighton and Frankston Suzuki. Frankston Suzuki even will throw in a set of remus slip ons for $15.2 ride away. Regardless of preferences, that's cheap for a brand new Busa (Gen 1)

GOT TO AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE, AND I THINK THAT 99's ARE STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A GOOD THING TO HANG ON TO IF YOU HAVE ONE... MY BOSS IS KEPPING AN EYE OUT FOR A SMICK 99 TO PUT AWAY FOR A RAINY DAY
