Officially, bikes built after JULY 07 are supposed to comply but yes the recognised 07 models don't need to comply. The 08 models do.

Aftermarket pipes have always been designed primarily for track use and many pipes sold come with a sticker on the box or even engraved on the pipes that they are for "TRACK USE ONLY".

Of course this hasn't stopped 90% of riders who want the look good, go faster pipes.

2008 will be a whole lot more stringent on the policing of the new emission laws due to the ongoing political current of clean air for the future campaign.

looks like even straintunes will get you in strife. If aftermarket pipes are quite enough i doubt they,d be short. In regards to emissions i doubt they would pull you over with a stock can and do a sniffer test, which leaves the possibility of pc tuning still.the irony of stock tuning is its quite rich to keep oxides of nitrogen low.I can,t see too many pair valves being removed in the future. If an aftermarket full system does jump through all these hoops expect it to be $2500+ with cats so it would want to make some horsepower.I suppose the 3 map switch could always be used for an under the radar tune with a pc.This stuff has been addressed with cars for years, its just another hurdle the after market will overcome.I still struggle with the insanity of overly quiet motorbikes riding alongside soundproof cars. These days the rta seems to get any laws passed they desire,i think they are out of control.
cheers spaman.
