For some reason today it worked fine so I officially booked in.

Dee I will race Leonard and bet on myself as long as you give me 3x3. That is 3 to 1 odds and 3 second head start.

See you all there. Bruce

Never claimed I was mate all I want is a quickish reliable streetbike that I can fang the wheels off.

I have enormous respect for those that step up to run with the big boys for the commitment they make in having radical a drag only bike that is insane to ride. I'm ok with riding in the pack and making up the numbers Bruce

f*** no mate not offended in the slightest.. You can tell when I'm offended I puff my chest out and make loud ineffective noises that everyone ignores.

May stay at the track or at Maj's place will wait and see. Terry called today to confirm that he is in.

I am absolutely f*&^ing busting at the seams to get on the new beast. It's been an effort but I have managed to not call Maj every day.

Heard yesterday that the motor is in and idles on the stock ECU. Now to fit and integrate the Motec gear and other stuff. Bruce

It was a great meet, and as usual Ray Box and the Sport Compact guys treat us like kings.

As Dave said, the Outlaw Sportsbike class was one of the largest fields on the day, and by the end of the meet we were the stars of the show, as all the big name car guys were broken and couldnt race, 2 of their classes had finalists ready by the end of qualifing as there were only 2 cars left to race. We were approached by one of the meeting directors and told we were being bumped up into the staring role as they had no one left running quick times in the pro classes, and we still had a full field of entrants (the only class to do so).

It has been a very long time since I have been scared riding a bike, but Heathcote brought back some fear.
The track surface is rough in comparison to WSID and Willowbank (to say the least), the left lane has a series of corrugations about 50 meters from the finish line that rattle you out of your seat. And the right lane has a bump that sends both wheels off the ground, and both lanes have pot hole repairs in the brakeing area that look much like any NSW road repair crew has just been through.
The good part of the track undulates and gives a bumpy ride, that tends to steer you around in the lane, just to keep you on your toes. In all the best way to describe it would be a bumpy country road that is sticky. Bumpy enough to throw you up off the seat, and sticky so as you dont spin your tyre on launch.

To give an example of the surface; I was doing close to 145mph when one of the undulations lifted my front wheel going into 5th, which is all fine, but then I hit "the bump" which lifted the bike off the ground, it came down not quite straight as I went over the line to hit the series of bumps and dips in the imiediate brakeing area, the bike kept lifting off and jumping from side to side, when it settled and I got on the brakes I realised that my mouth was open wide and my throat was sore (I think I had been screaming), even though it was a ride from hell I set a new PB for MPH at 156.98, reaching my second goal in as many meetings.

Even though we all thought the surface was rough, we all said we would return to Heathcote. The set up there is great, with permanent awnings in the pits, an area where the spectators can go almost to the start line, great food and a licenced BAR, (spectators can drink all day, racers have to wait till racing is over).

Congratulations to Nevil and Steve for the win, and Greg for the runners up spot, as well as putting us up for the night. And thanks to the Sports Compact Group for giving us our chance to play.
