Gen2 has higher comp. ratio than Gen1 for just that little bit more grunt.
More Comp = more heat = higher chance of fuel detonating earlier.
However, Suzuki bung a 95 sticker on tank of Gen2, so it must be OK.

Me thinks with 12.5 to 1 compression any brand 98 is the go, 95 marginal, 92 don't use. Have to admit I never can tell difference between brands although I was always avoiding Mobil as I had bad batch of fuel, motor would not turn over hot (heat lock) they had put 92 or E10 in 95 servo tank to make more money (not uncommon but there is huge fine for operator if caught and I dobbed them in to authority) I had to drain tank. Mobil will be goneski from Oz anyway after closing down their refinery in SA about 5 years ago and sacking workers so they could import refined fuel from Singapore they are now withdrawing from Oz servo market.

Caltex, Shell, BP; you'll probably find that a lot of the fuel is supplied by the same supplier anyway. Just depends on who will give them the best price at the time. A lot of fuel has a lot of crap (particles)in it. Blocks ya intank fuel pump filter real easy. Gives ya the shi*s having to clean it out all the time. Yeah, I'm a nutcase, carry one of these in my backpack & always use it.

None of the Indian Passport Holders gainfully employed at Shell, Caltex & BP have ever complained about me throwing whats left in the water trap down on the deck, & the Micron Filter keeps the shi* out.
They never complained about me working in India either

Not overly fussed about brand other than Shell. Horror stories about Optimax when it was around. Not heard anything about its replacement "V". I normally look for any name brand thats busy, and have 98. 95 at a pinch. 
People are like turtles....... you don't move forward unless you stick your neck out!!

we put a measured cup of water into 5 ltr's of petrol then put it through the funnel and the funnel had a cup of water left in it ,if some went through it was that minimal we couldn't tell.They are excellent especially when using jerry cans.They are available in Australia.

Mmmm thanks guys, a good if perennial topic which I muse on every time I get a new bike.
My last bike, 08vfr800, the service guys said just use plain old 95 Fuel, not the fancy high
octane detergent ones because they leave a jelly residue in the motor?
Anyone heard of that? Anyway I usually alternate between (BP/Caltex) 95 then 98 and assume
the FI computer sorts out the details.

did the fuel have any ethanol content ? results may differ
