In my 20+ years of working with computers Vista has to be the most evil of all operating systems released by the Empire. That said I have been running Windows 7 on my desktop and netbook at home. My netbook has a miserable 1gb of memory and the N270 Atom CPU but runs Windows 7 extremely well, even the powercommander software works with it.
However like any New operating system it may take some time for the drivers for various components to catch up. I know the logitech keyboard drivers dont work on Windows 7 (yet) and I'm sure there's others but in time the vendors will catchup. If you are buying a complete system or a laptop where you won't be connecting any unusual harware devices then definately go for Windows7.

Gates invented Vista so he could kiss the hardware manufacturers arses & have em sell more harware. Half the software won't work with Vista, probably will with 7.
