Helicoils are awsome and should not leak. Pull the pan and take it to a trusted mechanic, most have helicoil kits.
They drill your sump to the correct size tap it and wind in the helicoil thread, you can then use the stock sump plug.
there is not quite enough meat in the pan to put a helicoil is what i remember. its quite thin where the sump plug is.
