Kompressor Wrote:Thanks - I actually narrowed it down to one bike. Its an 2000 model 46k.
2 more questions!
1. Can I fit rubbers around the footpegs to decrease vibration?
2. There is a bit of tapping from the engine unless the clutch is pulled in (guy said it was bearing/whatever on clutch plate and that a lot of bike did it?
1: shouldn't need it, with rubber tops on the pegs and weights underneath you would be hard pressed to inprove whats there.
some bikes are a bit buzzier than others usually ~140.
2: clutch has a slipper/lockup ramp, can't notice much noise on my 02.
A thing that does need to be looked at : Recall on 99-00 models, look for a hydraulic line from the right side oil gallery at the front of the engine , going to the timing chain tensioner on the right side rear of the cyl, you will be able to see when the tank is lifted . there were several recalls not all bikes had them all done
also check bikes with the alloy tail frame for cracks near the top mounts under the seat just near where the tail frame mounts on the main frame
Engines are generally good no matter what the milage , but wheel bearings, brakes ,shocks etc will show signs of age in higher milage bikes.
