As the title said, I'm new to the forum. I came across it in my search for 'busa info - looks like a great forum!
I curretly have a 2000 model Suzuki SV650S. I'm happy with it, but its time to move on, and I've got my heart set on a busa.
I rode a 2005 model with 15k on it - and it was sweet. I also rode a 2000 model with 23k on it and it was very worn feeling, vibrated, and handled quite badly too. It also felt down on power, even though it had a power commander and pipe etc. Both of these were around the $12,500 mark.
I guess my question is - is this going to be the case with every busa I look at? (All the older/20k+ bikes feeling worn?) Or do you reckon this one had just had a very rough life? My bike has 45k on it and it felt brand new compared to one of the 'busas!
I'm interested in trading my bike and paying cash for the difference, so if any of you know of one for sale (prefer unmodded low k's) could you let me know? I've looked at all the advertised ones in the links and at dealers. In fact I'll be looking at a couple today.
Any help/opinions appreciated!
Cheers
Hi and welcome,
I have owned to Busa's, both 99 models. My current bus has 34,000 clicks, and to be honest, it feels better now than my original with just 8,000 k's. I also just had the tappets inspected, and no shims were needed - pretty happy about that - and the mechanic said he has looked at bikes with 70+k's and no need to make any adjustments. I think if they have been treated well, you'll be able to tell. I know some people have close to or over 100,000 k's with very limited loss of power.
So, bottom line, don't be too afraid of the k's, look more at the condition and feel of the bike. A dyno run prior to purchase may also help you decide.
Cheers
