17 Bikes showed up. While this was a great turn-out, there were quite a few who I had not counted. This means that almost 10 who said "yes, definitely" did not show, and most did not let me know. However, I think a few people only realised at the last minute that there were finned tin-tops racing around Albert Park. (And to the couple who did not show up because the weather didn't look promising - it was glorious, especially once through the spur).
Kylie - got your indirect message - thanks.
Paulh - sorry, did not see your message (come on, you did leave it at 3a.m. Sunday morning) - did you show up at the cross-roads? Next time, leave a message on my mobile. Hope you didn't spend too long waiting.
Bob - thanks for heading the ride up. Obviously, we were at the wrong spot, when you were waiting elsewhere
As usual, we hit the road a little later (waiting for those who weren't going to show ) But took it easy to Kinglake (wet patches and rippled road surfaces ensured we weren't breaking any land-speed records on that stretch).
Then, those lovely sweepers through to Healesville (and despite the crap all over the road, there were some dodgey passing moves to be observed )
OK, so we lost almost half the group at Healesville to "wanna get home for the Grand Prix" and other equally lame excuses, but the rest of us tore the Black Spur apart. For me, it was certainly one of the best runs I have ever had through there - not only was the weather absolutely spot on, but there were surprisingly few cars on the road (and not one caravan!)
My photos will be quite a while away (start of new film) but I hope someone has some ready real soon.
Cheers, everyone,
Richard
