SYDNEY HAYABUSA WEEKEND!

WHEN: Saturday 24th February, 2000 and Sunday 25th.
Coffee at 9.30am, kick-off at 10am until about 4pm. Those who can make it back on Sunday for dynoing, corrections or just because you want to, 10am start.

WHERE: 10 TENTHS Motorcycle Performance, Unit 4A, El Toro Business Estate, Homepride
Avenue, WARWICK FARM (SYDNEY) NSW 2170.
Warwick Farm is on the northern edge of Liverpool, in the south-western area of Sydney, about 8km off the F5 Freeway from Melbourne and Canberra. From the north, We are one block north (that’s towards the City) of the Cumberland Highway (Route 7) - Hume Highway junction. Enter the El Toro Estate 100m on left past traffic lights on Homepride Ave. We’re in the middle of the front row of units facing the Hume Highway, past the motorcycle wreckers.

FACILITIES: This is a dedicated motorcycle workshop, not a luxury conference centre, so it’s
plastic chairs and concrete floor. We have toilets, coffee-making facilities and ‘frig.
There is a very good food shop at the entrance to the Estate, open from 8am-12MD on Saturday only. Sam does a full-on ‘truckies’ breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages etc for $6.50. The El Toro Hotel-Motel is adjacent, which has the usual pub stuff, EFTPOS and some food.

ACCOMODATION: You might try the Formule One motel chain ($59 room for one, two or three
occupants) at Prospect (crnr. Cumberland & Great Western Highways) – about 30 mins ride away; the Lansvale Caravan Park (10 mins) or a couple of caravan parks further to the south, around Narellan/Leppington we believe. There are plenty of motels along the Highway ‘round Liverpool.

CONTACT NUMBERS: Phone (02)9602 9714; (0419)98 5668; fax (02)9821 1719; e-mail
tentenths@ozemail.com.au. E-mail is not necessarily checked regularly, though.

The Guts of it All…

…is an opportunity to learn more about your beloved beast and hopefully address any problems you might have with it, depending on time and numbers.

Mr Peter Shields, a specialist in fuel injection with Wynn’s Performance Products will be in attendance and speaking on Saturday 24th. Peter has been with Wynn’s for many years in very senior positions, knows a great deal about current petrol formulations and has developed a fuel-injection cleaning kit which we have trialled on a number of Suzukis. He is a long-term performance enthusiast, lover of fast cars, bikes and motor racing and a very entertaining speaker.

Mr Steve Hooker, NATA-accredited NDT metallurgist, drag bike racer and current road-race sidecar owner, will be speaking with regard to some of the engine internals of the ‘Busas. Stuff like metal strengths and compositions, gearboxes, shot-peening, piston technology. Steve also has a background in chemistry, fuels, highly modified motorcycle engines and aftermarket parts.

Colin Linney, joint owner/manager of 10 TENTHS, drag bike racer for 30 years and holder of 11 National drag racing records, will be speaking about the strengths, weaknesses and idiosyncrasies of the Hayabusa. He will be available to answer as many questions and address problems as time permits, including operating the dyno (free of charge) to correct running problems. The latter will be primarily on Sunday 25th, with preference to those who have distances to travel. Problem-solving does take time, though.

There will be no-one selling anything, the weekend is open to any Hayabusa owners of good faith and we hope to have a lot of fun. We also hope the weather is kind, so that you have a good ride and that the factory and dyno room are not too hot. If there are enough people, we may look into providing food (at a nominal charge) after the Estate’s shop closes. There may be some Streetbike magazine involvement too – their schedule is tight at the moment though.

Please let us know your intentions, right up to the date, so that we can cater as best we can with chairs, space and refreshments. We hope it will be informative and practical for you and look forward to meeting all of you. It would be preferred if there were no politics and no alcohol consumed on the premises during proceedings – make your own arrangements for Saturday night though!

RSVP by Wednesday 21st February if you can, for your own comfort.

Cheers,
JULIA LINNEY (PARTNER – Administration)

P.S. If there’s anything I’ve missed, just call and I’ll try to help. Travel safely.
