That's true as well rocketrod, but not all manufactures use this method and is why Staintune use silencer plugs in the back of their mufflers because it's too loud without them. Stainless steel packing dosn't absorb as much noise.......

Anyway , I could go on about this topic for ages but a little inspection now and again might be worth alot of money down the track especially on c/f mufflers, I've seen it too many times. Customers start complaining of cracked carbon skins because they don't think they have to repack, they don't get told how to look after them....
