My take on the Superbike School
#1
Did the Superbike School cornering course at Phillip Island over easter.

For those of you that have not done it, it consists of 5 theory sessions of about 20 minutes, each one followed by a 30 minute session on the track. Each session gives you something new to concentrate on and there are instructors out on the track to give you tips. You ride the track sessions at your own pace, so you can still have a good time of it.

In summary, the five things in the level one course are:
1. Increasing throttle throughout the entire corner
2. Starting your turn later in the corner
3. Leaning your bike quicker using counter steering
4. Keeping a more relaxed grip on the handle bars.
5. Looking well into the corner before starting to turn.

Each session has restrictions on what you can do to help you tune your skills, for example the first sessio you are only allowed to use 4th gear and NO brakes. Make coming down the hill into MG corner quite interesting (and scary).

I was very pleased with the course and found it very valuable. If anyone is considering doing it, go ahead, it is very useful and will add to your confidence immensely.
