Yamaha-ha didn't put an auto gearbox on the big FJ, its an auto-shifter. Saves the rider from actually pulling in the clutch lever and flicking that left foot (Oh so tiresome eh ?) by doing it all for you. You flick the up or down switch and the clutch still gets engaged and released and the gear shift still happens but its all done by hydraulics - and it adds about 5kgs to the bike. Apparently its the same system as BMW uses on its M3.
Where will the gimmicks end ? Next you'll have a gas analyser unit built into the seat and every time you fart your cholesterol reading will pop up on the LCD screen and it'll make menu suggestions for you like... "Reduce fat intake" and "Suggest less leafy greens and more carbo's at next rest stop" or "That one was loaded, you need to stop and scrape out your undies". The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob
