I know that in NZ the V8's used to lap the track in 1min 05sec and the Suzuki Team on GSXR1000's used to do it in 59 seconds. Theoretically a car should steer better than a bike, hold higer corner speed, and brake better because the contact patches are much higher, esp if you can get to equivalent BHP/Ton figures, but then we are similar to the V8's in that respect.
However in the real world we practise the techniques of cornering all the time whereas the cagers turn a wheel while they are combing their hair, applying lippy, or talking on the mobile. Hence they dont practise, and they lose for it.
