A MOTORCYCLIST died when his machine hit a tree in Melbourne tonight.
The crash on the Maroondah Highway at Coldstream occurred about 8.15pm (AEST), police said.
It was believed the motorcyclist, aged in his early 30s, had lost control of his bike.
The death brings Victoria's road toll to 239, one more than at the same time last year.
