Me bus ain't no damn loggin' truck mister! It's the dang driver who be the logger.
I checked my tyres after the ride and there's the making of canvas on the rear. The front actually has a ledge-like corner running around each side (I don't know how else to explain it ... it's like a flat section but not on the centre, instead there are two flats on each side of the tyre). Anyway, I reckon the tyres were slipping and f****d my confidence up . Having said that, they seemed to stick fine going down the Molesworth track, and stuck fine today through the light twists to Whittlesea.
I will also admit that the overload of corners on the Reefton make the Broadford goat track look like the quarter mile run on a drag strip . Definitley going back, and with new tyres. Will go upwards this time, so I don't have to listen to my front brake squeeling like a taxi's brakes.
