The New...
Set up hosting with Webcity...
hosting.webcity.com.au/
$72 per yr
Set up domain name if wanted...$12.75 per yr for .com
New Forum FREE
Upload images from desktop...yes
New design...yes
No more ads...yes
Keep our own data and never lose it again like a few yrs back...yes
Maintainece exactly the same as now...no extra work.
All this can be setup within days.
Example forum here www.ladybirdlounge.com/forum/
This is just one brand...
Or stay as we are...
Pay $90 per yr (thereabouts)
No control over our own data.
If there is another crash we could lose thousands of posts like a few yrs back.
Have ads (Yes we still get them)
Have Board with not many features and fixed design/layout.
E.g no spell check, no direct image upload, features not working properly.terrible searching software etc etc.
For me the main problem is the control of data.
So much history was lost when we had the crash a few yrs ago.
This time bomb is always ticking as long as we stay with Ezboard.
As we post more and our history builds up we have the chance of losing it all and having to almost start again.
Have a look through old posts here and you will get thousands that are dead links...that's because of the crash.
Hangmore has had crashes and within a day they have all there data back up because they own it and have a backup.
Good model for a forum although way too dark for me
hangmore.end0.net/forum/i...ion=recent
And the other main prob is the searching software.
Try searching for a thread.
It's a joke, and if you do finally find something it is a dead thread because of the crash.
This Board was primarily setup as a mechanical/tips/information reference.
How can it be with a shite search facility and dead threads?
Do we make the most of the enthusiasiam and offers of help we have at the moment or keep with the old system?
Once it is all set up anyone can control it as long as they have the login details just like Ezboard at the mo.
It is up to you the jury to make your decision...
Sorry wrong line...
Cheers,
Pete
